In the restroom, Laura felt queasy and retched, but nothing came out.

Unbeknownst to her, she had left the door of the cubicle slightly ajar and someone came in.

Shortly after, a waiter rushed into the private room, his face filled with anxiety. "Mr. Harris, something's happened."

A wave of confusion washed over everyone as they turned their attention to the waiter.

Following the waiter to the restroom, they were met with a shocking sight. A waitress was assisting Laura, who had clearly been assaulted, bearing a bruise on her face and tears streaming down her delicate, pitiable countenance. Blood from a nosebleed stained her dress.

"Oh my God! Laura, what happened to you?" Everyone was stunned.

Marlene hurried to Laura's side, concern etched on her face. She then turned to Lilah, her voice urgent. "Lilah, you were in the restroom too, weren't you? Who could have done this to Laura?"

Lilah pursed her Lips. The deluxe hotel's restroom was both spacious and soundproof, so Lilah had been unaware of any commotion. Shortly after she exited her cubicle, she encountered Laura, battered and bruised.

Upon seeing them, a passing waiter rushed off to inform those in the private room.

Marlene's words sent a sudden shiver down Laura's spine. She clung to Marlene's arm, whispering something tremulously, her voice so hushed that Marlene had to lean in to catch her words.

Upon hearing Laura, Marlene's face drained of color, and she stared at Lilah with disbelief.

The expression in her eyes triggered a sense of understanding among the others.

"Lilah, I know you've had issues with Laura, but you couldn't have done this to her, could you?" Marlene's voice was tinged with anger and disappointment.

Someone quickly inquired, “Marlene, what are you implying? Did Lilah harm Laura?"

If that were the case, it would change everything. While they were keen on partnering with Lilah, if something happened to Laura here, the Rhodes family would undoubtedly seek justice.

It was crystal clear which took precedence.

With an icy countenance, Lilah spoke in measured tones. "Marlene, you're alleging that I struck Laura? What proof do you have?"

“Laura is petrified at the sight of you. If it wasn't you, who else could have been?" Marlene retorted, visibly distraught and incensed.

Tremors coursed through Laura as she clutched Marlene's hand, pleading, “Enough... Cease this... I-I want to return home... I'm terrified... I was mistaken, Lilah. I should never have appeared in front of you..."

Laura bore a look of fear that unsettled the hearts of everyone present.

The entire assembly was left dumbfounded.

Just how severely had Lilah struck Laura to evoke such fear?

Laura remained silent, and then suddenly collapsed. Marlene's heart ached and she fixed a venomous gaze upon Lilah, uttering, “Laura only just regained consciousness! The doctor warned against any stimulation. Lilah, if you push her back into a vegetative state, the Rhodes family will come for you."

"I have already explained that it had nothing to do with me. Marlene, is there an issue with your ears?" Lilah's eyes brimmed with intensity as she sneered. “And do you genuinely regard Laura as your dear friend? She's wounded. You didn't rush her to the hospital at the first opportunity; instead, you got embroiled in this mess with me. It appears you're more concerned about your inability to implicate me."
