Lilah sighed and rolled her eyes. "First of all, I didn't ask her to make a bet. Then, when I asked you to let me do it, you refused."
“Listening to you is synonym to losing miserably. You're not an archer. Don't make a fool of yourself," Marlene snapped angrily. To her, Laura betting made her an outstanding woman, but Lilah betting meant she was just self-opinionated and arrogant. Marlene thought that Lilah didn't even know what she was capable of but just wanted to show off and be a heroine.
"If I win, the bet you just made with my friend here will be null.
You will also apologize to us and never insult women again," Lilah said to Gerry, ignoring the hateful Marlene.
“Deal!" Gerry smirked. "Go on and shoot. We can just use the score I already have."
Gerry's performance was already quite good. He worried that he might end up with something lower if he did it again.
Lilah nodded indifferently and picked up the bow and arrow.
The room was once again filled with murmurs and whispers.
"These women are really arrogant."
“What's the point of insisting when they'll lose anyway?"
Before Laura played, some people really thought that girls could win against men. But after the defeat, they lost faith in the women and even resented them for trying again instead of just letting go. Any sympathy they felt for the girls was gone.
With a frown, Walter whispered to Gerard, “These people are deliberately causing trouble. If Lilah loses, I will have them thrown out."
“Calm down first and just watch," Gerard said with a smile when he saw Lilah's posture.
Walter frowned. He couldn't understand why Gerard looked so calm.
Bryan too had a small smile at the corner of his lips.
Walter looked at both men, confused. What was wrong with them?
Time seemed to stop as Lilah let go and sent the arrow forth.
The arrow pierced through the air and hit its target.
The next second, some people broke into laughter.
"So lame!"
"She almost missed the whole board."
"Just three points? I can do better with my eyes closed."
Many people mocked.
The jeers suddenly subsided as a tall man's cold gaze swept through the crowd. The aura he exuded was chilling and frightening.
