"Thank you, sir."

"Ma'am, I must tell you something," the coach said with an unprecedented seriousness.

This, of course, caught everyone's attention. Was Marlene right after all? Did Jerrold have no talent for archery?

Feeling quite nervous, Lilah nodded without showing her emotions.

Seeing her go-ahead nod, the coach said, “It's such a pity that you didn't start training Jerrold from a younger age. But if you start now, he could easily become a champion of the Olympic Games in the future. Never have I seen a child with such natural talent."

Everyone gasped, stunned by the turn of events.

Jerrold wasn't without talent like Marlene guessed. Instead, he was too talented for his age, and that too without any prior training Relief flooded Lilah as she heard this. She had always known Jerrold was exceptional. With a smile, she said, "I'll ask him what he thinks about it at home."

"Do that and let me know if you decide to go forward with his training," the coach answered and watched them leave.

Lilah walked over to Gerard with the little boy, asking, "Tell me, sweetie, how do you feel about archery? Do you want to continue learning?"

Jerrold blinked his big eyes and stared at his parents. After what seemed to be careful consideration, he nodded. “Yes.”

He saw it as an opportunity to make his mother more fond of him. He just needed to become really good at it. At the thought of this, Jerrold became more excited by the idea.

Gerard ruffled his short hair and said, "In that case, the driver will bring you here after school, okay?"

"Okay."

They looked like the perfect family as they exchanged smiles.

Bryan's eyes flickered slightly at the sight. If only he and Rachel could be like this.

After playing for a while, they went to the club's restaurant for lunch.

“Welcome, ladies and gentlemen. It's been a while!" The club manager welcomed them with a warm smile. "The wine will be on the house. It is sweet and refreshing. Not strong at all. Even for the girls.”

"Thank you," Walter answered. He was a regular customer, and the manager knew him better than the others.

The manager's eyes fell on Laura, then on the child beside her, and then moved onto Gerard. With pleasant surprise, he asked, "Ms. Rhodes and Mr. Harris? Is that you? It's been so long since you both visited. Is this your child? He looks absolutely adorable!"

Everyone suddenly fell silent.

“Oh no, you're mistaken. He's not my child," Laura clarified hastily.

“Your nephew then? He's just so cute!" squealed the manager excitedly.

"Uh, no. He's Gerard and his girlfriend's child," Laura explained.

The astonishment was evident on the manager's face. Gerard and Laura used to often come here as kids. Back then, everyone assumed that they would eventually tie the knot. The manager never imagined Gerard was now with someone else.
