"Don't worry. I'm not scared," Lilah answered him confidently.
Gerard raised an eyebrow at her, a hint of amusement in his eyes.
As soon as they closed the door behind them after entering the haunted house, the atmosphere suddenly turned eerie and terrifying.
Green and red lights played tricks on their eyes, and everywhere they looked, they saw spiderwebs and skeletons.
It was pitch-black. They couldn't even see their hands when they placed them right in front of their faces.
Walter said, "Stay close, everyone, and don't get separated. We should stick together."
Lilah suddenly felt someone grab her leg, but it was nothing. With a calm face, she moved away.
They hadn't gone far when the temperature suddenly dropped.
Instinctively, Gerard reached out to hold Lilah, but another hand grabbed him first and bumped into him.
"Gerard, I'm so scared," cried a soft female voice.
The floor beneath their feet suddenly caved in and they fell into a room, the door clicking shut instantly.
Gerard forcefully pulled his hand away and hissed, “You can leave if you're scared."
Laura clenched her fists and shook her head. "It's fine. I'll hold on."
Then, she looked around the room and asked, "Are we in a room now?
What do we have to do to leave the room?"
They started searching around the room. Suddenly.
“Abh!"
Laura screamed and threw herself on Gerard.
She thought she was going to hit his chest and feel his arms around her, but he caught her dress and kept her at a distance.
Without a second's delay, he raised his hand and said aloud, "Someone wants to leave the room!"
Each room had a surveillance camera that was constantly being monitored. If one ever got too scared, they could ask to leave Like Gerard was doing now.
Laura quickly pulled his hand down and said in a hushed tone, “I don't want to leave, Gerard. I was just startled."
"It just started. If you're scared, you'd better leave now before something happens." His voice, devoid of all emotion, felt like daggers as he added, “If it happens again, you better just leave."
Contrary to what it might have seemed like, he wasn't trying to protect her. It was more of a warning to steer clear of him. Laura's eyes immediately welled up with tears. His words and actions hurt her deeply. She hadn't done anything to deserve being treated this way.
