“Miss Phillips, I truly didn't anticipate that she would use my previous design and even have it notarized. What should I do?"
Ewing's composed expression shifted and tears welled up in his eyes.
He had never expected this.
It was the most brilliant idea he had ever conceived but, unfortunately, the Dillon Group had terminated him and he'd been unable to reveal his design to the public.
Ewing had decided to use this cherished design as a gesture of gratitude to the Phillips Group but, instead, he'd ended up causing them anguish.
“Such a trivial matter has affected you like this?"
Lilah found it amusing. Ewing used to exude confidence and arrogance.
“A trivial matter? It will ruin the Phillips Group. You've invested so much effort in this project..."
Ewing was on the verge of tears.
"Do you think I don't have a contingency plan?" Lilah said nonchalantly and beckoned Ewing over. As he approached, she whispered something to him.
Finally, she patted him on the shoulder and remarked, “It's not us who should be anxious."
Ewing grasped the implication instantly.
While the entire company was in turmoil, Lilah managed to leave work on time to pick up Jerrold and then sought out Gerard. The family proceeded to have dinner.
Meanwhile, Ewing remained behind for overtime work, his phone incessantly ringing.
It wasn't until ten o'clock that he completed his extended work hours.
Stepping out of the company, he was intercepted at the gate.
"Come with me," a resonant female voice instructed.
Ewing was ushered into a car. He didn't resist, settling into the vehicle with crossed legs. “Impressive. Cruising in a Maserati now, it seems the Dillon Group has treated you quite well over the years."
Samira hadn't anticipated Ewing's calm demeanor.
“Ewing, I'm not here to reminisce. What exactly are you planning? You stole my idea. Are you aiming to sabotage the Phillips Group?"
“I apologize. I'm not ungrateful. I'm the one who intends to reciprocate." Ewing regarded Samira with a subtle smile.
Samira's complexion paled. She understood his implication. He held her responsible for his dismissal.
Samira slowly shut her eyes. “It was not entirely my fault that you got dismissed. I had no choice. But now, I'm here to assist you."
"Oh? How?"
