After three days, the celebration of Richard's birthday unfolded.

The festivity took place within the confines of the Harris family's old residence, with a specially designated villa that served as the venue for such grand occasions.

In attendance were the esteemed associates and relatives of the Harris family, all gathered to partake in the revelry.

The opulent surroundings set the stage as guests took turns extending greetings and presenting gifts to Richard.

"Richard, it's been quite a while. These coffee beans are the finest I've come across."

Walter eagerly approached Richard as soon as he arrived, seeking to endear himself to him.

"If you could bring a girlfriend along, that would be the best gift you could give me," Richard responded.

The smile on Walter's face swiftly faded. "Let's not bring that up on such a joyous day."

“Bryan and Gerard both have girlfriends. You're the lone bachelor remaining. Your father pesters me about it daily," noted Richard, aware of the amiable relations between the Morrison and Harris families. Walter's father harbored a certain envy upon witnessing Richard's grandson.

Quick on his feet, Walter devised an excuse to change the subject.

Yet, Walter harbored no desire to pursue a romantic relationship. He found contentment in his single status, firmly believing that having a girlfriend would entail being subject to her control.

Walter observed Gerard and Lilah. She was diligently adjusting Gerard's tie. Lilah remarked, "I made the right choice. This tie complements your outfit perfectly today."

“I concur." A smile graced Gerard's eyes.

Walter, witnessing this scene, couldn't shake off a sense of melancholy.

Gerard couldn't even choose his own tie. It was pathetic.

“What are you staring at? Don't you need your eyes?" Bryan interjected, noticing Walter's gaze.

Quick to divert his attention, Walter retorted, "Humph. You guys are at the mercy of your girlfriends. I was just wondering if you're actually enjoying yourselves.”

Bryan lapsed into silence. After a few moments, he mused, “If only she was willing to control me."

Walter found himself at a loss for words.

That marked the limit. Walter harbored no desire to engage in conversation with these infatuated individuals any longer. Gracefully, he slid away to a secluded spot.

Laura and Marlene joined the scene.

Marlene, shadowing Laura's every move, found her way in. She followed Laura's lead and exchanged greetings with Richard, who responded with a tepid acknowledgment.

“Mr. Harris, I present to you this gift," Marlene declared, producing a beautifully wrapped box. “I've heard of your appreciation for paintings, so I acquired this gem from the antique market."

Richard's gaze underwent a subtle transformation upon hearing this.
