“It's my privilege to meet you," Lilah responded with a smile.

The ambiance at the table exuded warmth.

“Has Gerard not completed his tasks yet? On such an important day for Jerrold, he's nowhere to be found?" Brenda inquired, a bit angry.

However, Jerrold, accustomed to such situations, spoke softly. "Daddy is very busy; it's okay, Grandma."

"Sweetie, now you're defending your dad?" Brenda's fondness for Jerrold grew and she affectionately ruffled his fluffy hair. “But don't you miss Daddy?"

"I have Mommy, so it's enough," Jerrold replied earnestly.

Laughter erupted from everyone.

“It appears your daddy is falling out of favor," Brenda remarked with a smile.

At the doorway, Gerard quietly overheard the conversation. He then approached and lifted Jerrold into his arms. Jerrold promptly clung to his father's arm, a hint of trepidation in his eyes.

“Have you been enjoying hearty meals at home lately? You seem to have put on some weight," Gerard remarked in a hushed tone.

He was accurate; Jerrold, once possessing a slender frame, now sported a delightful plumpness that only enhanced his cuteness.

"I... I haven't," Jerrold grumbled. "And Mommy says I'm the cutest like this."

“Your mommy indulges you; that's why she says that. You're so hefty now that I can barely carry you," Gerard teased, a playful glint in his eyes.

"Oh, you brat, don't talk about our precious baby in that manner. A little extra eating and a bit of chubbiness only make our baby more adorable." Brenda lovingly cradled little Jerrold, who shot a cold huff at Gerard.

He thought his daddy was such an annoying guy.

Gerard was left momentarily speechless.

Uh-oh, this was not good. He had become an outsider in his own family.

As they sat down for dinner, the atmosphere remained harmonious.

Gerard assisted Lilah with the food.

Jerrold rose from his seat and headed to the restroom.

Upon exiting, he nearly collided with someone and swiftly sidestepped.

The other person appeared somewhat surprised and crouched down to meet Jerrold's gaze. "Hey, Jerrold?"

Jerrold raised his gaze, only then realizing it was Marlene-his mother's younger cousin. Yet, he harbored no fondness for this particular aunt.

Consequently, he remained silent, poised to make his exit.
