They all took their seats as the waiter brought Lilah and Ewing's dishes over.
Ewing seemed a bit uneasy, occasionally glancing at Gerard. "Mr. Harris, I apologize for what happened a moment ago."
“It's okay. You were only looking out for Lilah," Gerard replied coldly. It was only because he understood Ewing's motivation that he didn't beat the man to a pulp like he would have done to anyone who dared to raise a hand to him.
Still, Ewing was a bit embarrassed. So he raised his glass to toast to Gerard in an effort to bury whatever animosity remained. "I want to make a toast to you."
Gerard lifted his cup.
The atmosphere was relatively harmonious, but Effie's gaze kept flicking amongst everyone present. Why did she find this gathering strange? Initially, she had dropped the idea of having dinner together tonight since Lilah was not around, but Gerard had still asked her out to eat. Surprisingly, the location Gerard chose was the same place where Lilah was having dinner.
A small smile curved her lips as she figured it out. Her big brother was a scheming guy! Love certainly changed people.
Effie shook her head and continued to eat.
From time to time, she glanced at her phone. She did it often enough that Lilah noticed and glanced at the screen of Effie's phone. “Are you planning to star in this TV drama?"
Effie looked up at Lilah in surprise. "What? Lilah, you know about this drama too? The TV series is written by an author with the pen name ‘A Fond Dream' and I'm planning to audition, but I don't know if I'll be selected."
"Are you auditioning for the role of female lead?"
"Yes."
Lilah thought for a moment and said, “Tell me your thoughts on the character."
“She's strong, confident and can endure hardships. She is also very compassionate and will not compromise her principle for wealth and status," Effie recited, happy to share her thoughts on the female lead.
Lilah nodded in agreement. "But there is a deeper layer to her. She is actually not that confident. Her excessive confidence is a manifestation of her sense of inferiority. You need to show that during your performance..."
Lilah and Effie discussed the lead character's personality in depth.
Effie suddenly realized something after a while.
“Lilah, have you read the script?" Effie asked in shock.
"Yeah, I have."
“Your understanding is so profound. If I didn't know you were very busy, I would have thought you were A Fond Dream!" Effie was awed by Lilah's knowledge.
Lilah smiled and didn't say anything.
She was also surprised that Effie wanted to play a role in her script. However, she believed in Effie's acting abilities. "Good Luck. Tomorrow is the audition. We will celebrate when you get the role."
“Okay, I will try my best."
When dinner was over, they said goodbye to each other and parted.
