“What happened?" she asked in a gentle tone.

Gerard looked away from her and said, "Nothing."

Then he stood up and told her, "I have to go now. I'm very busy."

Lilah wondered if he had just happened to be in this area and stopped by her office.

Nevertheless, she saw him to the door. “See you later tonight. Bye.

Tell your driver to drive carefully," she called after him as he went.

After he had gone, Lilah went back to work. She was a well-organized individual. As long as there were items on her to-do list, she would overcome any difficulty and ensure that she accomplished her goals for the day.

She was so focused on her work that she didn't notice when Emma entered her office.

“Excuse me, Miss Phillips. Here's some coffee for you," Emma said, handing her a cup of coffee.

"Thanks," Lilah said gratefully.

“You're welcome. By the way, has Mr. Harris left?" Emma asked, looking around the office.

"Huh? Did you see him earlier?" Lilah asked in surprise.

"Yeah, I did. He stood at the pantry door for a long time," Emma replied. Gerard had looked too cold and unapproachable, so Emma didn't dare to go over to greet him.

"The pantry?" Lilah asked, frowning in thought.

But just then, she recalled something and light immediately dawned on her.

No wonder Gerard had been behaving weirdly earlier. Lilah wondered if he had overheard her conversation with those young women at the pantry.

Reflecting on her situation, Lilah half-wished she could go back in time to give herself a slap across her face.

To soothe her nerves, she took a sip of her coffee and was pleasantly surprised by its flavor. “Is this a new coffee brand? It's quite good."

“No, Miss Phillips. Mr. Harris brought it for you, saying you would like it," Emma replied, her typically calm demeanor now tinged with excitement. "Mr. Harris really treats you well."

Lilah felt a strange mix of emotions. It dawned on her that Gerard's visit was more intentional than it seemed, and he must have overheard her conversation.

Although she hadn't personally claimed that a man was merely an accessory, she hadn't denied it either.

"You can go, Emma. Thank you," Lilah said, dismissing her.

After Emma left, Lilah considered calling Gerard to explain, but talking on phone didn't seem sincere enough. She resolved to speak with him in person later.

As she was about to set her phone aside, it rang.
