Gradually, parents and drivers arrived to collect the children.
Jerrold scanned the crowd for his driver, but his gaze suddenly froze upon spotting a tall, slender figure. A momentary shock turned into unbridled joy, his eyes lighting up like a rainbow after a storm.
Without hesitation, Jerrold dashed toward her.
Lilah embraced him as he reached her.
“Mommy 1"
"Sweetheart, how's your day?" Lilah inquired, guiding him to her car.
"Excellent," Jerrold replied in his typical manner.
Though satisfied with his response, Lilah remained curious. "Have you made any friends at kindergarten? I saw a girl talking to you just now."
Jerrold's family background set him apart from others, causing Gerard and Lilah to worry about potential ill-intentioned parents attempting to orchestrate interactions with Jerrold. However, their concerns proved unnecessary as Jerrold remained aloof, often disregarding others. Lilah had never witnessed anyone engage with him before.
Realizing that he might have a friend now, Lilah felt genuinely delighted for him.
Jerrold considered for a moment before replying, “I'm not sure if she's my friend. I just lent her my eraser today."
“Really? Why?" Lilah's curiosity peaked. She knew Jerrold wasn't typically so warm-hearted.
“Because her eraser was stolen," Jerrold answered lightly. He had observed some children stealing the girl's eraser to humiliate her, prompting his sympathy and the gesture of lending her his own.
Much to Jerrold's surprise, the girl's gaze upon him shifted abruptly.
She engaged in occasional conversation with him, and Jerrold, finding her company tolerable, didn't dismiss her presence.
Lilah wore a mixture of frustration and amusement. “Those kids have crossed a line. If this happens again, you can inform the teacher, or come to me, and I'll take it up with them. Darling, you truly have a kind heart. You helped your classmate."
"She is silly." Jerrold quirked his Lips.
Lilah chuckled, feeling a rush of joy. Finally, Jerrold displayed care for someone, a heartening sight to behold.
"Well, when you're in kindergarten, offering help to other kids when you can might be something you'll consider. Your kindness won't be forgotten in the future."
Jerrold nodded in acknowledgment.
With some time still remaining, Lilah decided to check on Effie.
Upon their arrival at the film set, Effie had completed her scene.
Rushing to meet them, she entered the dressing room.
“Hi there, my dearest nephew!" Effie lovingly pinched Jerrold's cheeks. "You're becoming more and more adorable. Mwah!"
