She soaked in the applause and cheers. But then, the spotlight shifted. Effie, the show's main attraction, walked in.
And just like that, the next big thing in showbiz had everyone talking.
Today, she was radiant in a sea-blue dress with matching blue diamond jewelry. When the light hit them, those diamonds glittered, making her seem like a mermaid princess straight out of a fairy tale.
As she waved to her fans, the camera zoomed in. There it was, a stunning blue diamond bracelet. Tiny blue diamonds were set to mimic blooming lotus flowers. It was otherworldly and sparkled brilliantly.
There was just no picking it apart.
“Wow, that's a masterpiece!"
“I think it's got an edge over Maggie's jewelry!"
"Right? Maggie's set was eye-catching, sure. But it felt a bit rigid, and the design, kinda basic. This bracelet? It's a piece of art.
Even a quick look tells you it's top-notch."
"Breathtaking!"
When she saw the comparisons on the comments section, Adaline's grin wavered a bit.
How on earth did they think this was superior? Why wasn't she seeing it?
Did these folks online even have an eye for beauty?
Adaline felt a pang of annoyance.
Still, the evening wasn't a total bust. Skimming through messages from sales, she saw: "Ms. Phillips, our orders are skyrocketing!"
A smirk played on her Lips.
But that smirk vanished when she saw a flood of not-so-nice comments about Maggie.
Maggie, blissfully unaware of the chatter, wrapped up for the evening.
Back at her hotel, she quizzed her assistant. "So, how's the Phillips Group holding up?"
“Post your appearance, sales are booming and there's been loads of buzz."
Maggie beamed. It was just as she expected. She had clout, and she knew it.
She felt on top of the world tonight.
But then her assistant dropped another tidbit. “There's a catch though. After Effie stepped out, she kinda stole your thunder..."
“That witch!" Maggie's temper flared.
