"What's the matter?" Gerard's impatience was evident in his expression.
“I have some questions to pose to you," Elva whispered.
"What kind of questions?"
"They're quite intricate. Can we discuss them in the study?"
Before Gerard could respond, Lilah interjected from behind him, "No problem."
An immediate frown crossed Elva's face, clearly indicating her reluctance to engage with Lilah.
However, unable to voice her objection, she begrudgingly followed them to the study, where she proceeded to inquire about literature-related matters.
Lilah attentively analyzed Elva's questions and engaged in thoughtful discussions. Elva was surprised to find her answers quite commendable.
"Why don't you go back?" Lilah suggested to Gerard.
With a tight-lipped expression, Gerard complied and departed.
Fixing her gaze on Elva, Lilah inquired, "Any other questions, Elva?"
Elva clenched her teeth. "No more questions. But there are plots about finance in my new novel. I still need to ask Gerard."
Raising an eyebrow, Lilah remarked, “Elva, have you forgotten my profession?"
Elva was left speechless, finding Lilah's attitude disdainful.
Internally, she cursed Lilah.
To challenge Lilah, Elva deliberately posed a difficult question. To her surprise, Lilah effortlessly provided a fluent and accurate response.
"The questions you just posed reveal that your college education fell short. Let me introduce you to some fundamental topics first and then you can attempt the quiz," Lilah said, handing Elva a questionnaire.
Elva contemplated refusing but found herself with no option.
Thus, Elva was compelled to study throughout the night. As the clock struck midnight, her fatigue became insurmountable, prompting Lilah to grant her permission to return to her bedroom.
Upon returning to the bedroom, Lilah found Gerard staring at her, his eyes harboring concealed grievances. “Why did you spend so much time talking to her? I was wondering when you'd come back."
“Her foundation is somewhat lacking. I assisted her accordingly."
Discontent was evident on Gerard's countenance. As soon as Lilah lay down, he embraced her tightly, deeming Elva exceedingly unpleasant.
He resolved to prevent her from visiting his house again.
The following morning, preparations were underway for everyone to part ways.
