The man she had sent the previous day to seduce Lilah was now nowhere to be found. He was just incompetent and unreliable!

After eating Lunch, Lilah dressed up and went to the company. But she encountered an unexpected guest at the company's entrance. It was Jenna.

She had a complicated expression on her face as she looked at Lilah.

After a while, she said, “Lilah, let my sister go. She now understands that what she did was wrong."

"Go tell that to the police," Lilah replied in a cold tone.

Jenna didn't expect her to be so heartless. As a result, she became very angry and shouted at her, "We are relatives for crying out loud!

Must you be so ruthless? Look, I'll compensate you financially. Is that okay?"

"I gave Elva a good chance, but she didn't take it," Lilah replied with a shrug.

"Come on, she's just a child," Jenna scoffed.

"A child?" Lilah chuckled. "She's probably older than me."

Jenna didn't know what to say in response. Elva was indeed two years older than Lilah.

After a moment of silence, she found her voice again and said to Lilah, "She only made a mistake that didn't cause you any actual harm. The matter should be resolved if I compensate you, and we'll all go our own separate ways. A well-behaved woman will stand a much better chance of getting into the Harris family. Just let Elva go and I will definitely speak well of you to Brenda.”

“Thank you, but I don't need your recommendation," Lilah told her straightforwardly.

This outright rejection made Jenna angry.

She felt Lilah was both arrogant and ignorant! Lilah hadn't even married Gerard, yet she was so arrogant. What if she became a member of the Harris family? She would probably be totally unapproachable!

"So, you don't plan to help me by releasing Elva, eh?" Jenna asked in a cold tone.

"I wish I could," Lilah said with a sneer. She found it crazy just how much audacity Jenna had to come make such a request.

Jenna left in a huff. Her fury burned deep within her, a seething intensity that she struggled to contain.

The notion of Lilah joining the Harris family felt intolerable, almost as if it would diminish Jenna's own place there. Jenna's eyes were dark and cold.

After a brief pause, she dialed Gerard's number, hoping for a more understanding response. “Gerard, do you have a moment?"

"Yeah, tell me what you need." Gerard's response was as frigid as ever.

Taking a gentle tone, Jenna began, "Gerard, it's about Elva. She's never suffered hardships since childhood. This time, it wasn't intentional. It was a lapse in judgment. People err, don't they? I spoke to Lilah, and she scolded me, comparing Elva and me as if we were of the same kind!"

Jenna felt a pang of injustice. “Isn't Lilah underestimating me too much?"

"You're overthinking," Gerard replied, his tone indifferent.
