Gerard grinned. Looking at her ring on his finger, he held her hand and said, “Let's take photos."
"Okay," Lilah quickly agreed.
After they had taken photos of their rings, Lilah suddenly remembered the skincare product she wanted to give to Effie. So they went home to get it and then took it to the filming site.
When she took a break from the shooting, Effie came to see Lilah.
They had a little chat together before Effie went back to work.
After that, Gerard and Lilah went to pick up Jerrold.
Sitting in the passenger seat, Lilah browsed through her phone.
It was not every day that she had so much idle time. She felt happy that she could now relax albeit briefly.
Just then, she saw a photo that one of her Facebook friends had posted. To her surprise, it was the photo she and Gerard had just taken. Gerard had posted it online.
There were lots of comments under the photo.
Brenda commented, "You went out with Lilah again?"
Effie's comment was, "I envy you so much."
Gerard replied to Effie, “If you envy me, you should get married then."
And to Brenda, he replied, "Yes."
After reading these comments, Lilah quickly checked Twitter and she saw the exact same photo. It had been liked and commented on by more than ten thousand people.
Most of them were expressing their envy of the happy couple.
“Awww. Ever since Gerard got a girlfriend, he has been publicly displaying his affection every single day.”
“Please delete it. It affects my fragile heart. Why do you all have a lover but I don't?"
"I know that being jealous is not good... but I just can't understand how rich people live so happily!"
Lilah did not take the unhappy comments seriously. At least, she understood why not everyone would be happy with such a display of affection.
Meanwhile, Laura had seen the picture online and she couldn't help but recall how her life had been very dark recently.
As she stared at the photo, she felt like a mouse in a corner, prying into the happiness of others, even though she believed strongly that this happiness should have belonged to her.
In fact, she saw Lilah as the one who had stolen the life that was meant to be hers.
The more Laura thought of how Lilah took away her happiness, the stronger her hatred was.
