But Tracy found her answer highly unsatisfactory. She didn't expect Laura to think in such a manner.
“Laura, are you out of your mind?" Tracy barked at her daughter.
“Has Lilah done something to you? Do you know how much I've spent to make your issue trend? Now, you've ruined it all with your senseless post. Don't you want to marry Gerard anymore?"
“But he dislikes me. Even if I married him, I wouldn't be happy,"
Laura pointed out in an indifferent tone.
"Listen to me. As long as you have power and money, you'll be happy,”
Tracy replied in a firm tone.
“Are you happy now?" Laura asked her.
Tracy was taken aback by this question. She couldn't help but ask herself if she was really happy.
Unfortunately, she didn't feel like she was.
"I haven't yet obtained enough power and money, so I'm not as happy as I think I should be. But you are different, Laura. You have a chance to become very happy," Tracy explained in a gentle tone.
“Delete your post and make another post, stating that Lilah forced you to make the previous post, okay?"
"No way! I wasn't forced by anyone," Laura firmly refused. "You have your own definition of happiness. As far as I'm concerned, I don't think I would be happy if I followed your instructions. I need to find a man who Loves me and whom I love in return."
"What on earth is wrong with you, Laura? Why are you going against me?" Tracy shouted in frustration.
“Because I can see that you are wrong, Mom," Laura told her.
"So what?" Tracy shouted at her. "I went through a lot before giving birth to you. Is this how you repay me? If I had known that all these would happen, I wouldn't have had you."
This statement caused Laura's eyes to turn red with unshed tears.
These were the words her mother had always told her over the years.
In the past, she used to feel sorry for Tracy for going through so much difficulty. Hence, she obeyed her every command. But now, she had changed her mind.
"So you expected to be repaid for giving birth to me? If that's the case, why don't you just kill me now?" Laura retorted, feeling a strong pang of disappointment in her heart.
Tracy gaped at her in astonishment. She couldn't believe that it was her daughter standing right in front of her and saying all these things.
“Laura, have you lost your mind? Did Lilah and Gerard do something to you? Laura, this is not the real you!" Tracy shouted, grabbing her by her shoulders and shaking her.
"No. This has nothing to do with them. I just suddenly found out that I can control my life, and that parents can love their children,"
Laura retorted with a sneer.
