As he spoke, Gerard sent his gaze around the room and marked the faces of all those reporters who threw harsh words at Lilah.

He believed it was about time he taught them a lesson.

In spite of all the hate, Lilah didn't lose her calm. "Since you're all eager for some evidence, I'll deliver.”

Then, she switched the video to a picture.

It was a hospital's remittance record.

A two-million-dollar transaction.

Everyone in the room exchanged glances with each other when they saw this.

“iihat's this?" one asked.

Meanwhile, one particular person's expression changed dramatically.

Lilah gave a small smile. "You must be curious to know what that is.

I'll feed your curiosity. The dead worker has a son who suffers from cancer and needs a lot of money for his health. That was why the worker took the risk."

“Nonsense! We all know he only has a daughter!" retorted a reporter.

Celia was the most shocked. She didn't expect Lilah would go so far only to slander her husband and save herself. She was the man's wife for Pete's sake! She would know it if she had a sick son, right?

The realization of this detail made some people understand what Lilah was implying.

“Do you mean the dead worker has an illegitimate son?" one finally boldly asked.

Lilah nodded. “That's correct. His family values boys more than girls, but since he only had a daughter with his wife, he had to get a son.

Unfortunately, his son is sick, and he would rather risk his life than let the boy die."

Gasps could be heard in the room.

They were moved by the father's love for his son. His bravery, however, didn't excuse the fact that he set someone up to make money.

Celia shook her head defiantly. She refused to believe it. “Lilah Phillips, stop creating stories! My husband wasn't that type of man.”

Lilah looked directly at the woman and asked, “Really? Tell us, do your in-laws not value boys more than girls?"

That seemed to shut Celia up. The mention of her in-laws instantly angered her. Indeed, when her daughter was born, her mother-in-law shunned her so much that she didn't think she would ever forget that period. Luckily, her husband had defended and consoled her. That was why Celia couldn't accept that he had done such. Her husband was a decent man.

Still shaking her head, she said, “You cannot drive a wedge between my husband and me. He would have never done such a thing."

Lilah rolled her eyes. “Why don't I just show you the evidence?"
