It showed how the worker wired money to the hospital monthly.
Celia's face blanched.
In recent months, her husband only gave her half of his original salary and claimed it was all he earned. She had stupidly believed him. ALL this time, he had given the rest to Annie.
How could she still refuse to believe what was in front of her? Her husband was Annie's son's father.
Then she thought back to all the times they met the boy. Her husband always looked at him so tenderly. She never thought anything of it.
Suddenly, the sound of a slap rang across the room as Celia‘'s palm hit Annie's cheek.
“Bitch! And to think you were my best friend! How could you do this to me? You bitch!"
Celia, please listen to me.
“Pf, save it! Give me back my money!" Celia was fuming. She was blaming herself for being so stupid. They played her right under her nose.
If anything, her husband deserved to go to hell.
Another slap resounded in the room. Annie covered her face and sobbed.
"Celia, I know you hate me, but this is not the time to talk about this. Lilah only brought this up so we would fall out with each other. Even if he was my son's father, it has nothing to do with why we're here."
"How so? He died for your son after all," Lilah cut in.
“Stop talking nonsense! Do you have any evidence?" Annie asked, hysterical.
Lance spoke up. “Right, do you? Lilah, you can't say the man died for the boy just because he's the child's father."
Lilah's sharp gaze fell on Lance. He sure had a great mindset. Lance faced her without any panic even now. Then, Lilah looked at Annie and asked, "Annie, can you explain where the two million dollars was from?"
“It was a donation from a kind-hearted man. I don't owe you any explanation," Annie growled.
She had received the cash before depositing it in her account. So she was sure Lilah had no evidence.
“Is this so-called kind-hearted man seated right next to you?"
Lilah's icy gaze fell on Lance.
Everyone followed her gaze and looked at Lance. Lance still didn't lose his calm. “Lilah, you've gone too far. I've been helping you all along and now you want to throw me under the bus?"
Realizing what was happening, Celia said, “Mr. Phillips is decent.
Lilah, you on the other hand, are an animal. How can you slander your cousin?"
She seemed to have spoken everyone's mind.
