Clint was speechless. He had no words to defend himself.
Lilah cut in, "My grandfather said when he was still in the company that the most important thing in the company is unity. If there is a traitor in the company, the company will collapse. Clint, you lost this game, admit defeat now."
That said, she took out the document.
Clint wasn't ready to leave the company just yet. But with so many people watching, what could he really do at this point?
“Miss Phillips, I was wrong. I promise that I will think of the company first from now on." He decided to beg, no matter how his skin crawled as he did this. Nothing was more important than money, and leaving this company would rob him of his money.
“The decision to let you stay is not up to me alone. It depends on everyone," Lilah said.
Clint quickly looked at the other directors.
He had known them for a long time and knew they would help him considering the history he had with most of them.
To his surprise, no one deigned to meet his eyes.
Clint's recent actions had disappointed everyone. Moreover, it was obvious that Lilah wanted him gone. Lilah would certainly be mad at them if they went against her.
They had seen the extent of her power during this crisis and preferred to be with her than to be against her.
Clint knew people were fickle. He just never imagined he would one day be abandoned.
Regretfully, he signed the document Lilah had pushed out.
After signing the document, Clint left.
Howard, who had been anxiously waiting for him downstairs, ran over excitedly when he saw Clint come out. "Clint, did you get Lilah's shares? Can I come back now?"
“Go back? That's never going to happen. Neither of us can stay,"
Clint said angrily.
Howard paused in surprise. “What do you mean? What happened in there?"
"At the last minute, Lilah's turnover surpassed 50 million dollars,"
Clint said coldly, his defeat still too difficult to swallow.
Howard's face darkened at this, his anger going out of its cage. "I told you from the start that betting with Lilah wouldn't end well for you. You didn't listen to me! Now look!"
"Who do you think you are talking to me like that?"
Without a second's thought, Howard raised his fist in anger and the two men began fighting.
Seeing this, the security guards hurriedly threw them out.
