Friday arrived swiftly.

The Phillips family gathering was on the horizon, and Lilah, aware that Gerard was inspecting his mall, went to pick him up.

However, from a distance, she spotted him standing beside a woman.

The woman donned opulent attire, a clear indication of her affluent background.

Lilah approached.

As she was about to extend a greeting, a ball suddenly struck the woman.

She let out a startled cry, spun around, and locked eyes with Lilah.

"Miss Phillips, what's the meaning of this?"

Lilah furrowed her brow, puzzled by the woman's reaction.

Observing her expression, Karol Morris discerned her thoughts.

She understood that some women harbored jealousy, especially those who had hitched their wagon to wealthier men. They guarded their boyfriends closely, fearing they might be lured away.

However, Karol hadn't anticipated Lilah resorting to such childish antics as throwing objects.

"Apologize, please," Karol stated icily.

Lilah was puzzled. "Why should I apologize?"

Karol curled her lips in disdain. "You're just green-eyed because you saw me with Mr. Harris. I'd recommend a visit to a psychologist to fine-tune your emotional balance.”

Gerard interjected coldly, "Karol, what do you mean by that?"

“Perhaps you didn't notice that she threw something at me just now,”

Karol replied indifferently, a look of contempt on her face. She knew that she was exceptionally beautiful and outstanding, leaving Lilah with every reason to feel threatened. But Karol hadn't anticipated Lilah resorting to such drastic measures. How deeply insecure Lilah must be.

Karol regarded Lilah with the disdain one might reserve for an ant.

"Your girlfriend is quite the green-eyed monster."

Deep within her, she harbored the belief that Gerard had appallingly poor taste to have chosen someone like Lilah.

As expected, successful men in their careers always seemed to choose subpar women.

Lilah couldn't help but roll her eyes, but considering Karol was Gerard's business partner, she replied calmly, "Miss, you're reading too much into this. I didn't throw anything at you.

"You've misunderstood. Lilah isn't that kind of person," Gerard defended.
