Even in this situation, Gerard continued to stand up for Lilah.

Karol's opinion of his taste plummeted even further. She retorted coldly, "There's no one else here, just you two. Did the ball magically launch itself?"

“Maybe it was tossed here by accident," Lilah suggested.

Karol was rendered momentarily speechless. Did Lilah not realize she was being mocked?

Even though Lilah was Gerard's girlfriend, Karol had no intention of being courteous. "I won't waste any more time on you. Apologize."

Lilah was at a loss for words and glanced at Gerard, who spoke sternly. “Karol, Lilah isn't the person you're making her out to be.”

Karol couldn't help but fire back. "Gerard, you're astute in business, but your knowledge of women is lacking. Everyone can see the disparity between you and Lilah. When I stand beside you, she naturally feels threatened, fearing she might lose you. So, she targets me. But why should I endure this? It's not my fault for being this good!"

Lilah was taken aback by Karol's narcissism.

How could someone be so self-absorbed?

With an unyielding expression, Gerard asserted, “She's far superior to you, and she has no reason to be envious of you."

"You're just deceived by her," Karol said and then looked at Lilah with a disgusted frown. "Mr. Harris and I just met by chance.

There's nothing between us. So, you have to apologize to me."

“Miss, aren't you being too confident?" Lilah asked, looking her up and down. “Don't you know you're not as good-looking and tall as I am? Why on earth would I envy you?"

Karol's face froze for a moment when she heard this. She was furious, but she could not retort immediately, because Lilah's beauty was indeed unparalleled.

But...

"Your beauty is your only advantage. I'm the deputy CEO of the Morris Group, and your assets can never surpass mine," she finally blurted out.

Lilah understood. So, this woman was the deputy CEO of the Morris Group. No wonder she was so confident.

“I don't want to waste time arguing with you anymore. ALL I know is that I didn't throw a ball at you," Lilah said in a tone of finality.

“Then let's go watch the surveillance video together," Karol stubbornly insisted.

She was bent on holding onto her own ideas.

But just then, a child ran over and said in a trembling voice, “Excuse me. I'm sorry I threw the ball here by accident. I'm very sorry."

Then he bowed politely.

Karol was stunned and she looked at the child with a frown.

The mother soon came over and carried the child in her arms as she apologized, “I'm so sorry. He was being naughty. He didn't mean to do that. He was too embarrassed to apologize earlier."
