Nervous excitement pumped through her veins.
After five minutes, a servant announced the arrival of a guest.
Marlene rushed to greet him. Everyone was shocked to see the man that strolled in.
“Marlene, am I seeing things? Isn't he a member of the Morris family?"
“Whoa! Kaden Morris! I've only seen him on TV!"
People stared at him.
No one had seen it coming-Kaden Morris, a young member from the Morris family.
Absolon was the leader of the Morris family, and Kaden was his nephew. Even though Kaden's father was Absolon's younger brother, Absolon had no heir. Kaden was next in line to lead the Morris family.
The young ladies of the elite families would do anything to be with Kaden.
The Phillips family members were shocked to find out Kaden was Marlene's boyfriend.
Lilah was caught off guard too.
Suddenly, people started acting different. Marlene, when'd you start seeing Kaden? Why keep it on the down-Low?"
Marlene bashfully clung to Kaden's arm. "We just started going out."
Decked out in a blue suit, Kaden greeted everyone like a true gentleman. He had that classy, old-money vibe. The Phillips family bombarded him with questions.
All their chit-chat revolved around Kaden.
Matthew had banked on being the next family big shot but it seemed like all eyes were on Kaden.
He cursed to himself.
Onyx had kept him down for ages. Finally, he'd seen a glimmer of hope to change the game and he wasn't ready to be pushed down again.
Plus, no matter how skilled Kaden was, he was just the deputy CEO of the Morris Group, not the big shot leading the Morris family. Gerard, on the other hand, ran the show for the Harris family.
Matthew thought those family members were total dunces.
He couldn't bite his tongue any longer. He piped up, "Gerard seems crazy busy. Still a no-show."
Marlene laughed. "No matter how packed Gerard is, he should care about his girl, right?"
She was hinting that Gerard had never seen Lilah as his girl.
"I'm with you. Kaden, on the other hand, treats Marlene like gold," someone chimed in.
