At this time, Gerard received a message from Walter.
“Bro, you give me so much work while you go out to play. How can I handle it all?"
“Effie will join us for dinner tonight."
"Really? Where? Now that I think about it, there isn't much work here. I can finish it later in the afternoon."
Walter was full of energy all of a sudden. However, he suddenly felt sorry for himself. He had already been dealing with a lot of things for Gerard, but now that Gerard knew his weakness, wouldn't he just give him more work to do?
It didn't matter anyway. Gerard was going to be his future brother-in—law.
Then Walter went back to work.
Lilah was not a talkative person, but her words were always precise and insightful, so Effie enjoyed conversing with her. She was so caught up in their chat that she didn't pay much attention to Gerard.
However, when her agent called and reminded her of a photo shoot, she had to cut their conversation short. They had already made plans to have dinner together that evening, so they could pick up their conversation then.
"Do you like the cake? I'll buy you another one tonight," Gerard asked when he saw that Lilah had finished the cake.
It was true that Lilah wanted more, but...
“Doesn't this shop only sell this cake in the morning? Aren't they all sold out today?"
"If you want to eat it, I'll bring it to you." His words were calm and determined.
He was Gerard Harris. As long as he wanted something, people would bend over to give it to him.
After a moment of pondering it, Lilah told him that she did want one.
In reality, she wanted to share the cake with Effie when they met tonight.
Finally, Gerard could enjoy alone time with his girlfriend.
“How was your coffee?" Laura asked as she walked in.
"It tastes really good," Lilah said genuinely.
Laura beamed, replying, "This type of coffee beans is amazing. I've packed some for you to take home. If you ever want more, just give me a shout, and I'll bring it over."
Lilah accepted it and said, “Thanks but I can always drop by if I crave it."
"No need to be so formal. You've been a big help and I don't know how to thank you. I feel guilty about my past actions so please let me apologize properly," Laura earnestly expressed.
Caught off guard by Laura's enthusiasm, Lilah was at a loss for words and simply nodded.
Laura's face lit up with a smile.
