"Okay then. Let's watch TV," Laura said with a hint of letdown.

The TV was playing a show starring Effie.

"You wrote this, right? I've seen it. It's awesome," Laura said.

"I'm glad you enjoyed it," Lilah replied.

Astrid perked up at this. She remembered her eldest daughter being super smart and writing tons of hit TV shows.

The more Astrid looked at Lilah, the more she saw her daughter in her.

Suddenly, Astrid's eyes got teary and she felt a twinge of sadness.

Braden comforted her, "It's been years. Wherever she is, she must be happy and safe."

Even if Joselyn was gone, she must be happy.

Astrid gave a nod.

Walter kicked back, glued to the TV series. He felt like TV Effie and real-life Effie were worlds apart but he liked them both.

“Why are you always so good-looking, Effie?" Walter couldn't resist asking.

Effie blushed, firing back, “Well, it's just natural beauty!"

“Yep, you're a natural beauty," Walter agreed.

Caught in his gaze, Effie's face turned redder by the second.

She looked away immediately.

They hung out for a bit but it got late and the elders were used to going to bed early so they left.

Laura walked them to the door, grabbed Lilah's hand, and said, “Swing by when you're free. My place is huge. I'll give you the grand tour Plus, my grandma's a big fan of you.”

“Okay, I see." Lilah nodded.

Gerard wrapped his arm around Lilah's waist, announcing, “We're leaving."

"Later."

After the goodbyes, Lilah hopped in the car.

Laura saw them off, feeling a bit peeved at Gerard. She'd just caught a glimpse of his jealous side and she thought this guy could be real small-minded.

Laura really began to worry about Lilah. Unable to resist the urge to message her, she took out her phone and typed, “Be careful with Gerard. He's a ruthless man."
