A chuckle bubbled out of Lilah's Lips when she read the message. She never, in her wildest thoughts, expected to receive a warning from a love rival. With an amused look on her face, she typed back, "Alright."
Laura replied just as soon, "I just don't think he's that great. I mean, he's not even gentle. I can introduce you to some relatives of mine."
Lilah chuckled again. "That won't be necessary. Thanks though."
Gerard stared at Lilah with squinted eyes. He approached her curiously, but she quickly put the phone away. Perplexed, Gerard asked with a small frown, "Who are you chatting with?"
She had been smiling the whole time, and the smile seemed to have gotten brighter.
“Laura," she mused.
“Laura?" Gerard became wary. "What did she say to you?"
His reaction gave Lilah an idea. With the curling of her lips, she teased, "She was telling me about your childhood. I didn't think you were like that, Gerard."
Surprisingly, Gerard bit into her game, becoming nervous as he asked, "What did she tell you?"
Her curiosity peaked, Lilah tilted her head slightly. Perhaps there really was something about his childhood she didn't know about.
“I'm not telling!" she said haughtily.
Gerard came closer and held her hand in his, staring at her with deep affection in his eyes. “Don't listen to whatever nonsense she told you. As a kid, I just wasn't interested in other women. That was why my attitude left little to be desired. But that changed with you because you're the only one I like."
He was so sincere that it was impossible not to be transfixed. A warm blanket spread over Lilah's heart, forcing her to give up on the teasing. She could imagine just how cold and ruthless Gerard used to be until she came along. She grinned. "I was just teasing you.
She didn't mention anything about your past."
“That's good." Gerard nodded, still looking at her warily.
Meanwhile, Laura was really curious about what her aunt looked Like.
So, she went to the study instead.
There, she found photo albums.
She randomly picked one up and started flipping through it.
Most of the pictures were of Astrid and Braden. Some of them were family pictures, where she saw her aunt. But Joselyn was still so young that it was hard to make her out.
Laura got engrossed in the pictures.
Joselyn was surprisingly stunning in her teens.
Standing by her own mother, Tracy, the difference between them both was significant.
Joselyn seemed to have hogged all the advantages of Astrid and Braden.
