She looked incredibly charming just standing there.
And that cold gaze of hers? It was enough to drive many men crazy at the time.
Laura saw it now. She understood why it was said that her aunt was the most outstanding woman in the entire Eleywood back then. Her pictures alone spoke for themselves.
What was even more shocking than finding out this truth, was that Joselyn in her teens looked very much like Lilah.
If anyone else saw these pictures, they would think Joselyn and Lilah were mother and daughter.
That was impossible though. Lilah had her own family. Maybe they just looked alike. After all, so many people looked alike in the world.
With a sigh, Laura put down the photo album.
Just as soon, the door to the study was pushed open.
Laura frowned when she saw the person at the door. The air suddenly grew cold as they just stared at each other.
Tracy's face showed signs of fatigue. She hadn't expected to find Laura here on a random visit to her parents.
A few silent seconds later, Tracy broke the heavy silence. "You've seen for yourself, right? You're nothing without the Rhodes family.
You still have a chance to come back."
Her voice was cold and condescending. She thought Laura came back because she couldn't make it on her own outside.
After all, when Laura was with them, her monthly allowance was a hundred thousand. Ordinary people didn't earn that much in a year.
Without flinching, Laura calmly stood up and said, “I just came to see my grandparents."
Tracy's gaze hardened at her casual response. Why wasn't Laura admitting her mistake?
“So, you're still hell-bent on going against me."
Laura stared at the weary face of the woman in front of her. She did feel sorry for her, but when she thought of how Tracy deceived her, she just couldn't forgive her.
With a sigh, she said, "Mom, you'll always be my mother, but you shouldn't have done that. You shouldn't have lied to me. Besides, Dad treats me well."
“He's not your dad!" Tracy retorted sharply, startling Laura.
After a brief pause, Tracy's expression soured. “Since you still think that way, just get out of here! Get out now! The Rhodes family will do just fine without you!"
Laura's eyes turned red and moist, but she stubbornly held back her tears and walked away.
Her small figure soon disappeared through the gate.
Astrid had just gotten up to use the bathroom when she saw Laura leaving the mansion. With a frown, she followed the sound and saw Tracy standing in the hallway.
