When she saw her mother, Tracy's voice softened a bit. "Mom."

"You're back. Why did Laura leave?"

"She.. She went to her dad," Tracy said somewhat indifferently.

Although a little surprised, Astrid remained calm. "Well, he is her father, after all. Why don't you get some rest?"

Tracy's already grim-looking face fell even more after that. How could her mother not be even a tiny bit angry? Did she also think Laura was right to go to that man?

Astrid could see right through Tracy without any difficulty. She was her daughter after all.

When this all started, Astrid had warned Tracy that he wasn't the right man for her. Still, Tracy only did what she wanted and married him.

At the time, Tracy was rebellious, always going against her family just for the sake of doing so.

As expected, Tracy got tired of him before long. She took over his company and divorced him, leaving him with nothing.

Astrid was shocked when this happened, and of course, she gave Tracy an ear-full. Her words, however, seemed to have no effect whatsoever on Tracy. At the end of it all, Astrid started blaming herself for how Tracy turned out. Perhaps Tracy wouldn't have turned out Like that had she been more present for her younger daughter.

Now, Astrid spent a lot of time in church praying for Tracy.

Tracy's methods were too ruthless and cold. She offended people at every turn without any care in the world.

Astrid was really worried.

With her eldest daughter gone, she just couldn't afford to lose Tracy too.

"You may not like that man, but the fact remains that he is Laura's father. You're going to have to put up with it. I warned you about this from the start. You two were never suitable for each other,"

Astrid lectured, not for the first time.

Tracy responded with pursed lips and looked away.

Everything she did was for the sake of the family.

The situation of the Rhodes Group was precarious back then and she had to do something. The Blakely family could help. She only did what she had to.

"Maybe you're right. But Laura is the young heiress of the Rhodes family. How could she be seen with someone like him? Mom, you really need to talk to her about this." Tracy frowned.

Astrid sighed and explained, "Things like reputation and status mean nothing between family. You're taking this too seriously. You shouldn't always be so focused on work. You should care more for Laura."

Tracy creased her brows in confusion. She cared enough for Laura already.

Thanks to her, Laura could attend the best schools and receive the best education there was from her very young age. Feeling tired of reasoning with her mother, she said, "Mom, go get some rest."

With that, she turned and walked to her room.
