“What's for dinner?" Gaze at Lilah, Gerard spoke in a low and tender tone.
Pausing for a while, Lilah rose and replied, “I haven't made up my mind yet. Let's head home first."
"Alright, take your time," Gerard responded, smiling.
Lilah nodded and turned to Jerrold. "Come on, darling, let's go home."
"Okay!" Jerrold held Lilah's hand, beaming.
Noticing his son constantly clinging to Lilah, Gerard couldn't help but furrow his brow in concern.
Jerrold's clinginess made it hard for him to be alone with Lilah.
The three exited the building and got in the car.
Gerard took the wheel in the front seat while Lilah and Jerrold settled into the back, happily engrossed in their playful activities.
A delightful ambiance permeated the car.
Glancing into the rearview mirror, Gerard caught sight of Lilah and Jerrold, occasionally erupting into fits of laughter, flooding him with warmth.
This was his life's treasure, something he vowed to protect forever.
After their playtime, Jerrold grew weary, resting his head upon Lilah's arm, and drifted into a peaceful slumber.
Amused by his innocence, Lilah chuckled.
"Have you settled on what you'd like for dinner?" Gerard inquired.
As Lilah was about to speak, she turned her head and caught sight of a newly opened shrimp restaurant.
Two boxes of firecrackers lay on the ground, with two clerks Lighting them up.
Eventually, the firecrackers crackled and popped, their sound becoming deafening.
"Gerard, how about we head to that restaurant for shrimp?" Lilah suggested eagerly.
Gerard glanced across the road and nodded. "Sure."
After the car came to a stop, Lilah opened the door and stepped out, carrying Jerrold in her arms.
Her arms began to ache. Jerrold had put on a bit more weight.
"You seem tired. Let me hold him. He's heavy now. It might be hard for you to carry him." In a soft tone, Gerard gently took Jerrold from Lilah's arms.
"Okay." Lilah smiled affectionately.
