It was not every day that Effie had the afternoon to herself. The season was about to change, so she needed to buy some new clothes, not only for herself but also for her nephew.

Jerrold was a very handsome boy. With a few fashionable clothes, she was sure that he would be able to attract a large number of girls.

Lilah, oblivious of Effie's plans, replied, “Well, he's at home.

What's wrong?"

"“Lilah, I just finished my work," Effie said excitedly. "I have the rest of the afternoon off. What I want to do right now is to take my nephew shopping. Can I?"

Lilah knew exactly what kind of person Effie was. Besides, Jerrold couldn't stay at home or in the company all the time. It wouldn't be bad for him to go shopping once in a while.

So she agreed.

"Great," Effie said happily. "I'll send him back home tonight then."

“Okay. Talk later," Lilah said, and the call ended.

As night descended, the stars in the night sky began to twinkle brightly as if they had just been awakened from sleep. Even the neon lights all around flickered ceaselessly.

ALL of these added a layer of gorgeousness to the entire city.

After analyzing the fund market, Lilah decided to make preparations to enter it.

It was at this moment that she received a call from Gerard, telling her that he had arrived at the company and asking her to come downstairs to meet him.

Lilah did as he had asked and together, they headed for Gerard's parents’ house.

The Harris family's residence was quite a large estate. Two sides of the manor were covered by green trees, and there was a winding path paved with bluestones.

Before long, they arrived at the front entrance of the manor.

The carved gate automatically recognized them and slowly opened to its full extent to allow them to drive in.

They had just driven in when all of a sudden, Gerard received a call from Richard. He answered it immediately. "Have you come back?"

Richard asked over the phone.

"Yeah, I'm here," Gerard told him.

"Okay. Come on in then. I've asked the cook to serve the dishes."

"We'll be right there," Gerard assured him.

After parking the car, Gerard and Lilah stepped out, and he led her into the hall.

As they entered the hall, a maid walked up to them and looked at Lilah for a while. Then she said to Gerard respectfully, "Good evening, Mr. Harris."
