Gerard simply nodded in response.

When Richard and Brenda overheard this interaction, they looked in their direction. "Miss Phillips, you're welcome here," Richard said, glancing briefly at Lilah.

"Hello, Mr. Harris," Lilah greeted Richard with a smile.

When Brenda heard this, she turned to Lilah and noticed up close the clear look in her eyes. She also couldn't help but marvel at Lilah's delicate features as well as her eye-catching figure.

Brenda thought that Lilah had an undeniably strong aura, which would make her a perfect match for Gerard.

The more she looked at Lilah, the more she liked her.

Brenda approached Lilah and grabbed her hand. "Come and have dinner," she invited. "We've prepared some special dishes today. You can have a try."

"Thank you," Lilah said politely.

During the meal, Gerard kept serving food for Lilah. When Brenda saw this, she couldn't contain her joy. "“Lilah, try this one," she offered. "Which dish do you want to eat? Let Gerard pick it for you."

"Thank you," Lilah said.

After a while, Brenda shot them a glance and asked expectantly, “So, when are you going to get married?"

She was quite pleased with her future daughter-in-law.

In her mind, Brenda imagined her daughter-in-law to be a responsible woman.

For her, this was the most important characteristic, and she believed that Lilah would be a great help to Gerard.

When Lilah heard the question, she was slightly taken aback.

Getting married wasn't on her mind at all!

Gerard looked at Lilah, who was sitting beside him, and thought for a moment before saying, "We're not there yet."

"Well, it's time for you to think about it!" Brenda urged. "I can't wait forever to have a granddaughter, you know!"

“Let's wait for a while. I'm not yet finished with my work," Lilah said thoughtfully.

Brenda knew that there was no use fussing over this. So, she turned to Gerard and said, “You'd better marry Lilah as soon as possible.”

“Okay, Mom," Gerard replied.

Seeing the interaction between the two, Lilah thought that Brenda was more anxious than Gerard about the marriage.

Of course, she understood where Brenda was coming from. After all, every parent's wish was to see their children have a family of their own.

Satisfied with Gerard's answer, Brenda thought of something else. "By the way, where is Effie? Why didn't she come back?"
