With this in mind, she dialed Effie's number.

When the call connected, Lilah could hear lots of background noise on the other end of the phone. There were children playing as well as the sound of a popular melody.

Where did Effie go?

"Lilah, what's wrong?" Effie asked.

The noise was so loud that Lilah could barely make out what Effie said. “Effie, where are you? Why haven't you come back?"

"I took my nephew to an amusement park!" Effie answered. "Don't worry.

We'll be back in an hour."

From this alone, it was clear that Effie doted on Jerrold very much.

"Okay," Lilah said.

After hanging up the phone, Effie was about to take Jerrold to buy more clothes when suddenly, she saw a familiar figure pass by.

It was Walter.

Effie's brows furrowed as she wondered why he was here.

Jerrold was in the middle of trying on clothes. Effie was about to greet Walter when she saw a girl suddenly jump into his arms.

"I miss you so much! Why haven't you visited me these past few days?" the girl asked.

From the looks of it, they seemed to be very close with each other.

It was obvious that this girl was treating Walter as though he was her boyfriend. Seeing this, Effie froze in place.

How could this be?

Was Walter still a playboy like he used to be?

Effie remembered that he had been in the news headlines almost every day in the past.

Effie thought he had changed, but as it turned out, she was wrong.

And he had lied to her.

At that moment, Effie felt a sharp pain in her heart, causing it to race rapidly. She clutched her chest as she turned around and left.

When Jerrold came out of the fitting room, he saw that Effie's face was pale as though she had seen a ghost. "Are you okay?" he asked.

"I'm fine," Effie answered while forcing a smile. "I'm just a little hungry. How about I take you to dinner later?"

Jerrold nodded, though the concern in his eyes never dissipated.

After dinner, Effie sent Jerrold home. When Lilah came downstairs to pick up Jerrold, she noticed that something was wrong with Effie.

When she asked Jerrold about what had happened, he wasn't sure.

Lilah didn't press any further, believing that Effie would talk to her if she wanted to.

The next day, the skincare department of the Phillips Group held a promotional activity at First Mall to show gratitude toward its customers.

Sales was growing better and better, and if a group wanted to grow stronger, it had to reply on the customers’ support as well as the quality of its products.

In the CEO office, Lilah was sitting on the chair as she looked up at Adelynn, who was standing not far away. “Adelynn, this brand promotion activity will last for a week," she told her.

Adelynn nodded. “Okay, Miss Phillips."

In the hall of First Mall, Adelynn and several employees began to promote Botanic's products.

Botanic had grown to be a popular brand recently. In two hours, more and more customers came, and the products on the stall were almost sold out.

At the same time, Abia entered the shopping mall alongside two of her colleagues.

As they reached the center of the hall, she heard a familiar voice.

"This activity will last for a week!"

Upon overhearing this woman's voice, Abia turned her attention to the stall.

The moment she saw Adelynn, her expression changed.
