“Just remember, no cops. You must come alone." Helga chuckled, issuing her warning.
After hearing Helga's instructions, Lilah agreed, saying, “Alright, tell me your location."
"No, you must go and get my daughter first. Call me once you have her with you.”
With that, Helga abruptly ended the call. Lilah thought momentarily, trying to remain composed, and then suggested to Gerard, “We must liaise with the prison first. Hope they will agree to put on a show with us."
Gerard stared at her and began, "I...
Before he could finish, his phone buzzed with a message.
After reading the message, he Looked up at her. “Lilah, my men have traced Helga's location."
"Good." Lilah nodded.
"I'll contact the prison. Let's go there together," Gerard said, arranging everything.
"It's best if I go there alone, or Jerrold could be in danger."
"I'll follow discreetly," Gerard insisted.
But Lilah shook her head, stating firmly, “No, I'll call you once I've rescued him."
"Alright, but be careful. I'll arrange for the money and the car."
Lilah nodded and smiled faintly.
The process unfolded seamlessly. When she arrived at the prison, an individual was present to meet Lilah and escort her to the designated meeting place. "Miss Phillips, Mr. Harris has communicated with our superior. We have been directed to assist you," the individual conveyed.
"Thank you," Lilah replied.
"No problem."
She directed her gaze down the corridor and instructed, “Please bring Adaline out first."
"Sure, please wait here for a moment."
Lilah nodded and sat in a chair to wait.
A few minutes later, two prison guards approached with Adaline in prison attire.
Adaline had grown noticeably thinner and appeared to have aged. She had a two-inch scar on her left cheek that had already formed a scab but was still quite prominent and eye-catching.
When Adaline locked eyes with Lilah, her gaze was cold but devoid of arrogance.
“Lilah, what are you doing here? To mock me?"
