Drawing a dagger from her pocket, she pressed it against Jerrold's neck, shouting angrily, “Seems Like you want your son dead, huh?"

Jerrold felt the cold blade on his neck, trembling all over.

Fearing Helga might harm her son impulsively, Lilah calmly stated, "I brought Adaline for you, in the car downstairs. Release my son, and you can see her in the car."

Right now, Lilah had got to keep her cool, so Helga didn't catch on to anything fishy.

Lilah was trying to ease Helga's mood while inching closer, playing it cool.

Helga was skeptical, saying, “Don't feed me lies. Hold it. One more step and I'll off him."

She was pointing the dagger straight at Lilah.

Worried Helga might snap, Lilah froze in her tracks.

“I've got fifty million in this case. A car's waiting downstairs with Adaline. I did what you wanted. Please, just release my son."

Upon hearing this, Helga felt a slight temptation.

She observed the suitcase in Lilah's grasp and speculated that Lilah lacked the audacity to engage in any deceitful behavior.

Helga pondered whether Adaline might truly be inside the car.

Observing Helga's bowed head and apparent hesitation, Lilah continued, “While I refrained from contacting the authorities personally, numerous individuals witnessed my search for my son at the mall. It's conceivable that others may have assisted in alerting the police. So the more you hesitate, the lower the chance of you escaping with Adaline,"

While speaking, she advanced a step closer to Helga.

As long as she could approach Helga closely, she felt capable of managing anything.

Upon hearing this, Helga furrowed her brow and confronted Lilah with the dagger, “I explicitly warned you against advancing. Do you wish harm upon this child?’

Anger emanated from Helga's eyes. She felt disturbed and upset by Lilah's statement.

“How am I to hand you the money if I don't go forward?" Lilah said.

“Open the suitcase. I must inspect the money beforehand. Then you may toss it to me," Helga responded cautiously.

Lilah found herself with no other option but to open the suitcase.

As Helga laid eyes on the money, her agitation gradually subsided.

"Toss it over! Immediately. No games!" she urged.

Lilah, constrained by circumstance, complied with the demand. She nudged the suitcase across the ground toward Helga.

As Helga crouched, clutching the dagger, she stared at Lilah with vigilance.
