She knew Gerard would directly point out any issues with the soup if he tried it.

Effie was thrilled by Lilah's praise.

Gerard insisted, "I didn't realize Effie was such a good cook. Let me have a taste."

As he spoke, Gerard took the soup bowl from Lilah and scooped some soup with her spoon.

"Gerard..."

Before Lilah finished speaking, Gerard had already tasted the soup.

His reaction was immediate and telling.

He gave Lilah a look that said, "You call this tasty?" His expression turned grim.

“Gerard, that's not fair. How could you just take Lilah's soup Like that?" Effie complained.

But Gerard didn't respond to her complaint. Instead, he stood there, exchanging a silent conversation with Lilah through their glances.

Meeting Gerard's gaze, Lilah said, “It's great, right? But we all know Effie still has a way to go with her cooking."

Gerard had to go along with Lilah's plan. After forcing down the dreadful mouthful of soup, he set the bowl on the bedside table and said, "It's a bit hot. You can finish it later."

Switching topics, he asked Effie, “Don't you have to be on set today?"

Prompted by his reminder, Effie suddenly remembered she had an urgent commitment.

With that realization, she swiftly said, "Oh, Lilah, I must go now.

I completely forgot I had something critical to attend to today! I'll stop by after I'm done with my work."

"Alright," Lilah replied.

Effie hurriedly left the room.

Gerard advised, "You shouldn't drink this soup."

"It's not bad, just a bit too salty," Lilah said with a smile.

“Let's not ask her to cook next time," Gerard suggested.

Two days later, Lilah could finally get out of bed and walk around.

But she couldn't walk too fast.

To care for Lilah, Gerard brought all the documents he needed to review to the hospital ward.
