"Alright then. I'll get the things," Gerard replied in a low voice.

Lilah tilted her head slightly and arched an eyebrow. "You will? Why did you get off work so early today, Mr. Harris?"

"I've already handled two contracts. Walter will help me with the rest."

Lilah chuckled. "You sure know how to squeeze every bit of time out of others.”

“You can't say that. I've offered him incentives," he replied, leaving his seat and slowly walking to the huge French window.

Curiosity piqued, Lilah inquired, “What incentives could possibly make him work so hard?"

Then, she paused as a thought crossed her mind. "Effie?"

Of course! Only Effie could make him work so hard.

However, no one knew how Effie and Walter would end up.

Gerard responded with a simple "yes."

"What's going on between them anyway?" Lilah asked a second later.

"Walter himself said he doesn't know."

She clicked her tongue. "If he has no idea what he did to upset Effie, things will only get more difficult. Why don't we find a way to put them down together and let them talk it out? It might help them resolve their differences, don't you think?"

Lilah believed that Walter loved Effie very much and was also very good to her.

It would be a shame if they parted over a small misunderstanding.

Effie might not regret it now, but some time in the future, when she looked back at it, she would definitely regret letting go.

“That's an idea I agree with. I'll call Effie later and work it out."

“Great. Find a quiet place, okay?"

“DT wilt."

After another short while on the phone, they hung up and Lilah began reviewing documents.

By the time the clock struck seven in the evening, she had finished with all the documents.

After a much needed stretch of her body, she stood up only to find that it was pitch black outside.

She picked up her things and rushed out of the office.

She was in the corridor when she got a call from Gerard again. “Hey, I'm downstairs waiting for you."
