“Okay. Coming down right now."

She hung up and kept her phone in her pocket before getting into the elevator.

As soon as she walked out of the lobby downstairs, she spotted a familiar Lamborghini in front of the company.

A broad smile on her face, she walked toward the vehicle.

Seeing her through the window, Gerard got out of the car, went around it and opened the passenger door for her. “Are you tired?" he asked, concern evident in his voice.

"Just a little, but I'm satisfied. I handled all the unfinished contracts," she answered as she got into the car.

Settled back behind the wheel, Gerard started the car and drove off.

In the car, Lilah turned to him with a smile. "So, what did you buy?"

“Uh, meat. I didn't know what you would want to eat," he replied gently, his eyes on the road.

"I just want a home-made dish." She smiled.

It had been so long since she had a home-made dish.

Gerard flashed a smile. "Okay, honey. Whatever you want."

Half an hour later, they were back to Gerard's apartment.

Lilah shut the door quietly.

Out of the blue, Jerrold's voice, all chipper, rang out. "Mommy!"

"Jerrold!"

Lilah beamed, holding her arms wide open. Jerrold hurried over, his eyes sparkling bright. She caught a glimpse of herself in his eyes.

“Mommy, can you sleep over tonight?" Jerrold's hopeful tone hung in the air.

“I'm not done with work yet. Daddy will stay with you," Lilah explained gently.

Her words cast a shadow over Jerrold's excitement. “But I want us all together, Mommy."

“Okay, I'll stay until you're asleep. Deal?"

Lilah couldn't bear to let her son down. She'd found him at last, so she'd bend over backward to make him happy.

"Okay!" Jerrold beamed.

Gerard raised an eyebrow. "“Lilah, why not chill with Jerrold? I'll give you a shout when dinner's ready."
