After learning it was less than a hundred bucks, he sent a voice message. “Less than a hundred bucks might as well be nothing. Once a fund's hit its Limit-down, it's done rising."
"That means we're still in the red," remarked someone, shrugging off the measly sum.
"A small bump in earnings isn't much," Keith chimed in.
At eight o'clock in the evening, folks in the chat group started freaking out as they watched their profits dwindle.
"You said we'd only lose a bit, Onyx. But I'm bleeding money here. Thousands are disappearing by the minute. What gives?"
“The price hasn't risen again since noon. If this keeps up, I'll lose all my previous earnings."
“Hey, Keith, what's happening?" someone fretted. “Wasn't Onyx saying the price would shoot up after a dip?"
Keith's own panic was rising. "I don't know. Onyx, if you're around, please give us some insight."
Onyx, brow furrowed as he watched the numbers plummet, replied, "Don't worry too much, Uncle Keith. It won't tank completely. We might bounce back by tomorrow.”
But truth be told, even he wasn't entirely sure.
“Are you sure about that, Onyx?"
“I've done my homework on this fund. We're not completely doomed.
Trust me," Onyx reassured.
“Okay," said Keith, though his trust was waning.
“If we can recoup our losses tomorrow, today's drop won't matter much."
“Let's hope for the best come morning."
Keith tried to reassure the group. “Alright, folks. Time to hit the hay. We'll tackle this fresh in the morning."
As Keith was about to hit the sack, a message popped up in the chat group. “Looks like Lilah's fund keeps climbing."
"Still on the up?" Someone perked up. “How much are we talking?"
"Up by a few hundred bucks. I've been keeping an eye on it," came the reply.
“That isn't going to cover our previous Losses," one member said with a sigh. “My earnings since it rose still don't match what I made on Onyx's investments in two days."
“Ah, I just hope Onyx's fund doesn't nosedive again," another chimed in.
“Lilah might know a thing or two. She did predict it yesterday," observed someone optimistically.
Keith shook his head. "Lilah's got a lot to learn in finance. No comparison to Onyx. She should have taken a million-dollar hit by now."
