As she heard him speak, a smug grin spread across the woman's face.
She was certain that anyone facing the risk of losing their job and future would give in eventually.
Lilah responded without fear, “Having someone Like you as an employee is a real shame for the Harris Group."
"Bitch! I'll teach you a lesson." As he talked, the man lifted his hand, ready to slap Lilah across the face. He had never been insulted like this by a woman before!
As Lilah prepared to act, Gerard walked toward her and gave the man a stern warning. “Touch her, and you'll face consequences," he said firmly.
"Who the hell do you think you are? How dare you interfere in my business?" The man turned to glare at Gerard with displeasure.
But as he encountered Gerard's icy gaze, a shiver ran down his spine.
He had met many powerful people at work, but none made him feel as uncomfortable and creepy as Gerard did.
“Honey, since they're feeling so brave today, why not teach that interfering man a lesson too?" The woman believed her husband was the most influential man in the world.
“Lilah, what's going on?" Gerard asked as he approached Lilah.
"This boy took the cotton candy from a girl Jerrold knows. Jerrold asked him to give it back. But the boy said no, hit Jerrold, and threw the cotton candy on the ground. That's when Jerrold got into a fight with him," Lilah explained.
“Did anyone see my son hitting yours first? Nobody did. It's just slander," the chubby boy's father said.
As he spoke, the chubby boy's father scrutinized Gerard closely, yet no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't remember ever meeting this person before.
Therefore, the chubby boy's father wasn't scared anymore. Perhaps this interfering man simply had a commanding presence.
“Sweetie, I'm Jerrold's dad. Can you tell me what happened? Did that boy take your cotton candy?" Gerard turned to Catherine and asked softly.
Catherine met his gaze and nodded. "Yes."
Suddenly, the chubby boy's parents’ expressions shifted.
Gerard went on, "Did Jerrold hit first, or was it the other boy?"
Catherine pointed at the chubby boy and murmured, "Mr. Harris, that boy hit first. Jerrold got hurt trying to help me."
"Alright, got it." Gerard grasped the full picture.
Hearing the girl mention "Mr. Harris," the man felt a cold shiver down his spine. No way! They couldn't be from the influential Harris family, could they?
Gerard straightened up and looked at the man, his voice deep and serious. “Is there anything else you want to say?"
“Who's to say the girl isn't lying? This is just her story. Listen, if your son doesn't kneel and say sorry to my son, your family is going to have a rough time."
"So, you're saying, regardless of the truth, you want my son to apologize to yours?”
