"What's up, Dad?"
“I've mentioned before, my friend's daughter is looking for an internship at your company. Remember?"
Richard said.
“Got it, I remember," Gerard replied, his memory crystal clear on the matter.
Richard didn't waste a moment. “She's just landed in town. Her name's Bexley Yates. Could you pick her up from the airport? I'll text you the details. And you come to my place tonight, too."
"I'm swamped at the moment. I'll arrange for someone else to fetch her," Gerard responded, declining the task.
"Fine. She's currently without accommodation. Have someone send her to the old mansion."
Since Bexley was his friend's daughter, Richard thought he should do his best to help.
"Understood." Once he ended the call, Gerard dialed Walter. “Drop whatever you're doing and head to the airport. There's someone you need to pick up. Take her to the old mansion afterward. I'm sending the details and her name."
"Got it," said Walter.
Gerard paused for a moment after making the arrangements and then dialed Lilah's number.
"Is something wrong, Gerard?" Lilah's voice was soft and concerned on the other end.
"I need to head over to the old mansion tonight, so I won't be able to pick you up," Gerard explained.
"That's fine; focus on what you need to do," she responded, her understanding clear.
“Can you take Jerrold to your place? I'll join you there later."
“Got it," confirmed Lilah.
As night fell, the Lights of the Harris family residence cast a warm glow.
Richard and Brenda occupied one end of the couch while a young woman with her hair in a high ponytail sat across from them. She addressed them with respect. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Mr. and Mrs. Harris."
"There's no need for such formality, Bexley. Feel at home here. If you're in need of a place, you're welcome to stay," Richard offered with a warm smile.
“Thank you very much, Mr. Harris," Bexley replied, gratitude in her voice.
Bexley then remembered something and offered a gift box to Richard.
“This is from my father."
Seeing the gift, Richard chuckled. "You can take this back; your father and I have been friends for years. I know he means well."
“My dad's been swamped lately and asked me to deliver this. He would've done it himself otherwise.
