Gerard saw her and immediately tried to clarify. “Lilah, it's not what it looks like."

He was worried Lilah might get the wrong idea.

In a calm tone, Lilah replied, "We'll talk about it later."

Seeing her boyfriend so close to another woman would stir anger in any woman's heart.

Lilah nearly lost her composure but regained her calm when she remembered Gerard's character. She trusted he wouldn't act inappropriately.

After all, many women were attracted to him because of his status.

"Okay." Gerard, noticing Lilah wasn't furious, sighed in relief. He stood up, faced Bexley, and said, "You can Leave now. Let's not have this happen again."

“Gerard, I'm sorry. It wasn't intentional," Bexley whispered. She had been watching Lilah since she walked in.

Bexley thought, if Lilah had such a strong hold on Gerard, then she must be the "Miss Phillips" everyone talked about.

In Bexley's eyes, Lilah's beauty wasn't that impressive. She wondered what special quality Lilah had to enchant Gerard so deeply.

But in the end, that was beside the point. Bexley was determined not to let any woman with hidden agendas near Gerard.

With that thought, Bexley asked deliberately, "Gerard, is this Miss Phillips?"

She then introduced herself, "I'm Bexley Yates."

Looking into Lilah's calm eyes, Bexley purposely said, "Miss Phillips, things aren't as they seem. I came in to serve him coffee, and my clumsiness led to spilling it on his suit. It's my first day here, so I'm still getting the hang of things. Gerard was just helping me out."

Lilah turned to Bexley and questioned, “What made you say that to me?"

“You might have gotten the wrong idea about him," Bexley murmured.

"Can't I make my own judgments? Do I really need you to spell it out for me?" replied Lilah with a hint of sarcasm.

"That's not what I meant," Bexley responded, her voice laced with worry because Lilah hadn't reacted as she'd hoped.

Before Bexley could say more, Gerard interrupted, "Bexley, it's time for you to go."

“sure, Gerard. I'll check in with you later," Bexley replied, aiming to provoke a reaction from Lilah.

Bexley watched closely, hoping to catch a glimpse of unease on Lilah's face, which would signify her success.

Bexley waited a moment, but Lilah's face stayed the same.

She pursed her lips, realizing she had underestimated this woman.

Left with no other option, Bexley turned to leave. As she walked by Lilah, she shot her a glare and exited the office.
