Chapter 136
"You've been exhausted recently. You just haveto work hard for a while more." Robert took the initiative to resolve Sophia's embarrassment.
Sophia nodded silently and turned the pillow over quietly.
Robert and Sophia left the dark room. Instead of taking the elevator, they chose to take the stairs to walk to the parking lot. An ordinary Volkswagen car had already been parked there by Aaron.
In the night, a Volkswagen sedan drove towards Xandenia. In others' eyes, Robert was enjoying himself in the room with his beautiful assistant.
The next morning, Robert and Sophia arrived at Xandenia.
Robert didn't sleep all night, and his eyes were bloodshot. Sophia also looked very tired.
"Take a break. There's something importanttomorrow," said Robert.
Robert parked his car downstairs of the hotel.
That day, neither Robert nor Sophia appeared at Zabinski Group.
Meanwhile, a taxi stopped in front of the Quesnell manor in Acocester, Xandenia. Although the Quesnell family was not as powerful as the Zabel Group's system, it was considered a prominent family as well and had its own manor in Acocester.
When the car door opened, a slender white leg stepped out of the car. The woman was wearing a pair of white canvas shoes,a knee-covering midiskirt, and a white T-shirt.
The woman's youthful aura was unquestionable. Albeit not wearing any makeup, her facial features were so exquisite that even the driver couldn't help but constantly turn around to look at her.
The youthful temperament was tinted with a hint of genuine self-confidence, which added a feminine charm to the woman.
Looking at the Quesnell manor in front of her, Marilyn let out a long breath.
It had been a long time since she returned.
She walked through the courtyard gate. The luxurious decorations in the courtyard were something that many people couldn't afford even after working hard for their entire lifetime.
Before Marilyn entered the main house, she heard the sound of people playing poker inside the house. When she walked in, she saw four women sitting around the poker table in the room, all smoking a cigar in their mouths. Marilyn's mother, Lena, was sitting at the table and playing cards while shouting.
"Mom," Marilyn walked into the room andcalled out.
The woman, who was playing poker in the house, was stunned for a moment when she heard the voice. Then her face changed as soon as she saw Marilyn standing at the door.
"Why are you back?" When she saw herdaughter appear in the room, Lena was surprised, and she couldn't help but frown.
"Marilyn?" A middle-aged man came out of thebackhouse and was also stunned when he saw Marilyn.
He was Marilyn's father, Spencer.
"Sigh,I have another headache." Lena threwaway the poker cards in her hand and pretended to fall backward.
Spencer hurriedly stepped forward and held his wife.
The other three people sitting at the poker
table hurriedly found an excuse to leave. In the blink of an eye, there were only three people, who were Marilyn and her parents, left in the house.
Spence r supported his wife to sit on the couch and said in a blaming tone, "Marilyn, why didn't you tell us in advance that you were going to come back?"
Looking at her parents, Marilyn suddenly understood everything. She took a deep breath and said,"Dad, Mom, those things you told me were lies, right? Mom is actually fine."
"Marilyn!" Lena yelled."What do you mean?Do you want me to die early?"
Spencer's face darkened as well, and he scolded,"Marilyn, why are you talking to your mom like this?"
Upon hearing the scolding from her parents, Marilyn took a deep breath and said, "Dad, Mom,I came back this time to talk to you. I don't want to marry Kendrick."
Hearing this, Lena, who was sitting on the couch, rolled her eyes up as if she was having trouble breathing.
Spence r hurriedly patted Lena's back and shouted at Marilyn, "Marilyn! What are you
trying to do? Will you be happy only when you make your mom die from anger?"
Marilyn shook her head slightly."Dad,I just don't want to marry someone I don't like. Is that wrong?"
"You don't want to get married to him? TheQuesnell family has raised you for so many years. How can you refuse to marry someone just because you said so?" Lena gasped for air pantingly and continued, "Marilyn, if you don't want to get married, then get out of the Quesnell manor! The farther away, the better! The Quesnell family doesn't need someone as worthless as you!"
