Chapter 193
Sophia had been recovering well recently, and the doctor also suggested that she move around more.
Being an intelligent person herself, Sophia understood that Robert did not want others to know about his identity the instant she heard him taking the initiative to correct her term of address for him.
The young man standing beside Sophia glanced at Robert and asked,"Sophia, is he your friend?"
"Yeah." Sophia nodded and introduced theyoung man to Robert, saying, "This is Joseph Walls, my senior in university."
When Sophia mentioned the word"senior,"she blushed slightly.
Joseph was six feet one inch tall and had quite handsome facial features. He was the type of man that women liked.
Naturally, Robert could tell that Sophia had feelings for Joseph. After laughing loudly, he asked,"What do you plan to choose? These types are all good."
Robert then took out a few bracelets, including
the one Sophia pointed at earlier.
Those gold bracelets had high gold purities, with prices ranging from 3,000 dollars to 4,500 dollars.
However, Robert knew Sophia could afford it, and he also decided that if she liked any of the bracelets, he could cover the cost for her later on as compensation for what had happened.
Although Robert acted professionally, deep down, he still felt indebted to Sophia.
After all, Sophia had been to the jaws of death, and the reason for it was that she wanted to do what was best for the company.
Robert was well aware of women's love for jewelry and decided to pay the bill that time around, so he spared no effort to promote it.
Robert had good taste in jewelry. Sophia picked up the few bracelets he recommended and looked at them nonstop. Her eyes were full of fondness for them, but she was too hesitant to make a decision.
It was not that she did not know which one to choose. Instead, it was because she was reluctant to buy it.
Although Sophia had 15,000 dollars at hand, she could not bear to spend 3,000 dollars to
4,500 dollars on jewelry. It was just too extravagant for her.
Robert saw the hesitation in Sophia's eyes and said smilingly, "It's okay. You can try on whichever you like. Listen to me—choose one."
Joseph, who stood at the side, suddenly piped up, "It's too expensive. Don't buy it."
He shook his head and put the bracelet, which Sophia was trying, on the counter."The 15,000 dollars you have aren't enough to pay off my debt. Why would you still want to buy things like this?" he continued.
At that, Robert could not help but glance at Joseph.
Joseph caught his gaze and said to Robert in resentment, "As a salesperson, you should just introduce your products to customers. What was that just now? Are you forcing your customers to buy your products?"
When Sophia saw that scene, she quickly tried to smooth things over by chiming in, "Robert is my friend, Joseph. He didn't force me to buy anything."
Joseph sneered."He only spoke like that because he's your friend. I've seen this kind of sales tactic many times. When they can't sell
their products, they target their acquaintances. Believe it or not, he can make a lot of money off you! That's enough; don't buy these useless things. Let's go to the bank. My credit card payment will be overdue tomorrow. You said you'd give me the money today!"
Joseph then pushed the bracelets further across the counter and grabbed Sophia, preparing to walk away.
Frowning, Robert asked,"Sophia, do you owe a lot of money?"
"Judging from Joseph's words, it seems thatSophia is going to give him the entire 15,000 dollars. Does she have that much debt?"Robert wondered.
Sophia was stunned for a moment before she shook her head and replied,"No."
"Then, you..." At that point, Robert glanced atJoseph.
"What does our business have to do withyou?" Joseph glared at Robert and then pulled Sophia's arm."Let's go and pay off my credit card debt first," he said to her.
