Michael was talking to Lionel when he heard someone call out to him. He was a little unhappy, but his face did not show it.
Lionel looked at Lena meaningfully as well.
Both of them didn't make their identities known for that visit, yet Lena had addressed them publicly. They were unsure of what she was up to.
Michael regarded Lena with puzzlement in his eyes.
Kendrick secretly cursed Lena for being an idiot and hurriedly went forward."Mr. Sullivan, this is the wife of Spencer, the second boss of the Quesnell family."
"Hello, Mrs. Quesnell." Michael nodded slightly. His attitude was not very forthcoming.
Lena didn't notice that something was amiss. She remained enthusiastic. "Mr. Sullivan, are you here for the engagement party? How ignorant Kendrick is to have troubled you to come just for this. Please come in."
Michael stood still.
Spencer instantly went up to pull Lena aside and apologized. "I'm terribly sorry. My wife doesn't know better."
After Spencer had finished speaking, he immediately dragged Lena aside, regardless of her struggle.
"Spencer, what are you doing?" Lena shook offSpencer's arm and scolded, "Mr. Sullivan is here. Why aren't you greeting him but pulling me back instead?"
"Can you use your brain a little?" Spencer raisedhis voice a little. "Do you think you're the only one who recognized Mr. Sullivan? Did you see anyone who approached him rashly as you did just now? Do you know why Mr. Sullivan is here?"
"What else could it be? He's here for theengagement party," Lena retorted matter-of-factly.
Spence r refuted, "No matter whether he's here for the engagement party or not, Mr. Sullivan hasn't said anything yet. So, who are you to make an announcement first?"
After Spencer had said that, Lena realized she had done something wrong but was still dissatisfied."How dare you teach me what to do, Spencer? Why do you think I went up to him? It's all for the good of the Quesnell family."
Spence r knew his wife's temper and didn't want to say anything more.
Though the commotion dampened the mood of the two bosses, they didn't take it to heart.
Lionel continued, "Mr. Sullivan, are you trying to keep me in suspense? I would love to know who has the privilege to be called an entrepreneur by you."As he said that, he stole a glance at Kendrick.
Lionel knew exactly the type of person Michael was.
Although Lionel was in Navarre Municipal Hall and Michael was in Xandenia Municipal Hall, Michael's work style was well-known to all the five western states.
Kendrick unconsciously straightened his posture.
The people around Lionel understood what he meant, and the way they looked at Kendrick suddenly changed.
That was because the person who the two bosses valued would no longer be provoked in Xandenia or Navarre.
Lena also straightened her back and began le aning forward amongst the crowd.
Michael laughed. "Ha! Mr. Sanders, what do you mean by saying that?"
"Well, aren't you?" Lionel pretended to glare atMichael. "You're so good at keeping secrets. You even kept it from me!"
"Look—you're overthinking it." Michael pattedLionel on the shoulder and said, "I'm not here for work. I'm just here to visit the young people. Why are you blaming me for something that I didn't do?"
"Okay. You can stop beating around the bush."Lionel urged, "Come on. Let me see which young man is worth your visit."
"Hehe..." Michael chuckled.
