Marilyn frowned, and a rare hint of aggression appeared in her bright eyes."Are you threatening me?"

"Threatening you? Ms. Quesnell, I don'tunderstand. I just asked for your help with a message."Caleb chuckled."What you call a threat, hah, if you see it that way, then so be it. After all, Zabel Group has the confidence to do so. That's all I have to say. I hope it doesn't affect your mood today."

After Caleb finished his words, a busy tone came from the phone.

Marilyn looked at the disconnected phone in her hand, feeling distraught.

Just as Caleb said, the Zabel Group had that kind of confidence!

Not to mention anything else, just because of the recent events, Zabel Group had already started deploying their informationts. This was the deep roots of a 2-billion-dollar Group!

The Zabel family was a really wealthy family among the five western states!

The family had stood tall for three generations, not just in words!

Coincidentally, at this moment, the door of the reception room opened, and Robert's figure appeared in front of Marilyn.

Marilyn stood up and looked at the man in front of her. She admitted that the current Robert was completely different from the impression of the big boy she remembered. Just from this incident alone, Robert had set everyone up, even at the cost of bear ing the blame for so long! Some things, now that they had fallen into place, might not seem significant when looked at retrospectively.

But what if Michael didn't send the pennant?

What if Michael didn't prepare those photos? What if Michael didn't take the initiative to speak up? When would these matters be clarified?

Had everything been planned well in advance, or did they simply not care whether this matter would be clarified or not?

Regardless of which of these two outcomes it was, it was enough to illustrate that the current Robert had undergone a tremendous transformation.

Marilyn looked at the man in front of her with many questions in her heart, but when the words reached her mouth, she couldn't ask them and could only remain silent.

On the other hand, Robert didn't seem to be bothered. He treated her like an old friend, saying, "Have a seat. What would you like to drink? Coffee? Tea?"

Robert's question made Marilyn laugh at herself. "You knew, didn't you?"

"The past is the past, people change." Robertshrugged. "I'll go with coffee then."

Robert acted naturally.

Marilyn's pretty face was a little pale.

A cup of coffee was placed in front of Marilyn.

Robert sat across from Marilyn, holding his coffee cup and smiling."You came here for your mother?"

Marilyn took a deep breath, trying to appear more relaxed, and nodded."Yes, I hope you can show leniency."

Robert furrowed his brows and blew the hot air in his cup, perplexed. He asked, "Why? You all know the actual cause of that fire better than anyone else. Zabinski Group has already borne enough in this matter. Do you know how much we have lost because of that attorney's letter? Now you're telling me to let it go, and I should just let it go?"

"Is there really no room for reconciliation in thismatter?" Marilyn pleaded, "We will take full responsibility for the losses caused to Zabinski Group. We will compensate you and issue a public clarification. We will do all of that, as long as you withdraw the lawsuit."

Robert had never seen Marilyn in this state before.

In Robert's impression, Marilyn had always been a proud woman. Wherever she went, she was the center of attention, the one sought after by others.

But at this moment, Marilyn resembled a drifting wooden boat in the waves. She seemed stable, but any random wave could capsize her.

"Actually, I find it very strange." Robert put downthe coffee cup and looked directly at Marilyn. "The whole story behind this matter should beclear to everyone. What are your reasons for suing us?"
