"So what? I wanted to let him know. It was justfor a few hundred dollars. Can he make a big deal out of it? I wanted him to know who was in charge of Khandud Mall! I, Henry, built this empire myself. Who does Robert think he is?"
Mario hurriedly replied in a flattery tone, "You're absolutely right, Henry. Khandud Mallbelongs to the Atkins family. Who does Robert think he is?"
"All right, stop flattering me and focus on doingsomething substantial. I appointed you as the deputy chief so that you can achieve something, but all you do is get involved in petty scams. How can you make a fortune out of that? What's the point?" Henry said in disgust."How are you doing with the task I assigned to you?"
Upon hearing that, Mario immediately straightened up and turned serious. "Don't worry, Henry. Everything's under control. That man took 600 thousand dollars from me, and he dare not speak a word."
Henry nodded. "That's good. Remember, stop involving in trivial matters that can only give you small sums of money! What I asked you to do is where the real money is made! Also, if Robert wanted to cause trouble, he'll definitely go through the accounts. Accounts are fine, but did you put back the goods in the warehouse as I told you to?"
Mario looked a little unnatural."Yes, I have put them back."
Putting out his cigarette, Henry did not notice the change in Mario's expression. But knowing the character of his cousin, he reaffirmed again, "Really?"
Mario quickly reassured him, "Really, Henry? Don't worry, I won't neglect this matter."
"Okay, go and do your work. Remember to staylow-profile during these periods. And don't mess with the guy who opened the escape room, understood?" Henry warned.
Mario nodded and walked out of the office.
Just as Mario stepped out, he saw Sharon.
"Come with me!" Mario shouted at Sharon in alow voice.
Sharon gave Mario a displeased look, but still followed him to a corner.
Mario looked around to ensure that there was one nearby before whispering, "Henry brought up the goods again. If he asked you to count the inventory, please cover for me."
Sharon was surprised."You haven't returned the goods to the warehouse?"
"Return? How can I return?" Mario questioned."Itook out goods worth 4 million dollars but only managed to sell a little over 2.6 million dollars. How am I supposed to make up for the rest?"
Sharon's mouth was open."4m illion dollars? Didn't you say it was only 1.6 million dollars?"
"1.6 million dollars? I'll give you 100,000 dollarsfor 1.6 million dollars? What are you thinking?"Mario cursed. "I'm telling you that you are a part of this too. If things go wrong, neither of us can escape."
Sharon asked anxiously, "B-but how could I cover for you if such a large amount of goods were missing? What am I supposed to do?"
Sharon was on the verge of tears, well aware of the dire consequences if things went south.
Mario glared at her."Don't you panic! I'll sneak in some empty boxes tonight. The counterfeit wine will arrive in a week. I'll put those in the boxes and no one will be able to tell the difference. That will settle the matter. You can spend that 200 thousand dollars however you like and no one will question you!"
Hearing Mario's words, Sharon was relieved. "Then you better hurry up. If one day Henryreally decides to inspect the goods, those empty boxes will expose us."
"Don't worry, nothing will go wrong." Mariostared at the woman in front of her and licked his lips.
"Sharon is always this alluring and charming nomatter how," he thought to himself.
