Robert let out a bitter chuckle. "When did Naomi look for you?"
"This afternoon, as soon as I headed out."Marilyn flicked the hair in front of her forehead and continued, "She warned me that if I dared to make Robert suffer any loss at all, she would not let me off the hook."
Recognizing the dissatisfaction in her words, Robert hurriedly explained, "Naomi and I are only good friends."
"You see her as a good friend, but she's such abeauty. Why should she want to be only a good friend to you?" Marilyn rolled her eyes at Robert and said."But I do have to thank Naomi for this. If it weren't for her telling me these and enlightening me with her scolding, perhaps I won't be sitting here chatting with you now. Maybe I will show up in another identity and become the kind of person that I would hate. When Naomi comes back, I will treat her to a meal."
"Comes back?" Robert was stunned for amoment, then asked, "What do you mean?"
Marilyn only smiled and turned her head away without saying anything.
She thought, "Sure enough. Women would not tell the person they cared about most when they are leaving. Walking away casually is always better than having a heavy-hearted farewell."
In the club lobby, everyone was gone, and only Robert and Marilyn were left sitting together. The astute waiter then left the scene as well when he noticed them.
Both of them sat facing each other. Suddenly, Robert suggested, "Do you want to go for some kebabs together?"
"Forget it. I have to go home and apologize."Marilyn refused as she shook her head."It must be a mess at home now. Who knows what she will do tonight if I don't return home? It's fine. I should go back already."
Marily n stood up once she finished her sentence.
"I'll give you a ride then," Robert said, getting upquickly.
They then walked out of the club together.
Right in front of the club entrance, a Rolls-Royce was already waiting. The driver hurriedly opened the door when he saw Robert come out of the entrance and greeted both of them. After getting into the driver's seat, the driver cleverly raised the partition so that the space in the rear row of the luxury car could belong to Robert and Marilyn.
Gazing at the woman before him, Robert could smell the fragrance on her hair.
Neither of them said anything in the car. Although Robert tried to speak several times, he held himself back from all the attempts to talk. With that, the atmosphere remained silent throughout the journey. Half an hour later, the car arrived outside Marilyn's house.
Once the car stopped, Robert could not hold himself back anymore and held Marilyn's hand. He asked, "Marilyn, can we... make up?"
"I'm fine with it," Marilyn answered with arelaxed look."I like you anyway. But the point is, what are you going to do about my family? You have been in contact with my mother before. Who knows whether she will push me to someone else one day? Wouldn't you be angered if you got together with me?"
Marilyn smiled, pulled her hand out of Robert's palm, then uttered, "It's still not the time for you and me to have a relationship for now. All right,I'm going home now. Bye."
After saying that, Marilyn left light-heartedly.
Meanwhile, Robert stared at Marilyn's back and could not return to his senses for a long time.
Before Marilyn entered the house, she could hear Lena's furious roaring from the other side of the door. By merely listening to the sound, Marilyn realized it would not be a good night for her. As soon as the door was opened, she met Lena's cold glare.
Spencer and Lawrence sat on the sofa, smoking with their heads lowered. When they heard the door open, they also looked in her direction.
Marilyn could feel anger and confusion in their gazes; she had prepared herself for that.
Calmly, Marilyn changed her shoes before she walked toward her room.
"Marilyn, stop right there!" Lena shouted atMarilyn and then strode to her. "I am asking you. What are you trying to do?"
