Marilyn glanced at the file on the table and shook her head."Forget it. They keep track of everything I do. I didn't use the money or connection given to me by the Quesnell family to build Maribert Media, so I don't want it to get entangled with the Quesnell family now."
Robert knew what Marilyn meant. Maribert Media was the combination of their names, a gift Marilyn had prepared for Robert long ago. However, judging by how the Quesnell family handled things, they would snatch Maribert Media away from Marilyn once they found out she was in charge.
"By the way," Marilyn suddenly raised her headand said, "Our company wants to work with Zabinski Group. Why don't you take a look and let me know whether it will be okay for us to work together? I'm letting you know, so I don't have to make an extra trip tomorrow. Wait. I'll download the necessary materials and send them to you."
"All right." Robert nodded.
A few minutes later, Robert received the materials from Marilyn. He browsed through them before stating, "I have a general
understanding of your company's situation. There are specific problems with your qualifications, and your company is not the best partner for us to cooperate with."
"It's okay. It's a trivial task anyway." Marilyndidn't care about the outcome.
"It's fine, actually. This project is not important,so I'll assign it to your company. Tomorrow, I will get someone to sign the contract with you."Robert replied carelessly as well.
Marilyn accepted his offer after hearing his words."Well then. Thank you, Mr. Zabinski."
"You're being sarcastic?" With a bitter smile,Robert put another spoonful of food onto Marilyn's plate. He asked casually, "Is your boss male or female?"
Marilyn glanced at Robert curiously."What's with this question?"
"Nothing. I'm just curious." Robert repliedsheepishly.
"He's a man," Marilyn answered.
Robert blurted out, "Should I pick you up after work tomorrow?"
"Why will you do that?" Marilyn was confused."Your office is two districts away from ourcompany. It's not convenient for you to pick me up."
The urge to act possessively and claim Marilyn grew stronger within Robert. He voiced, "I have nothing to do at home. Just tell me whether it's okay for me to pick you up. Or is it inconvenient for me to do so?"
Robert was anxious after he spoke his words. He feared that Marilyn would give him an unsatisfactor y answer.
Marilyn rolled her eyes at Robert. "What do you mean inconvenient? You can come and pick me up if you don't think it's troublesome."
"Okay. It's settled, then. I will pick you up afterwork tomorrow." Robert exclaimed happily. "Come on! Let's di g in. Where's Linda? Wherehas she disappeared to? I've decided not to invite her along during our next meal."
The private room door was pushed open as soon as Robert finished speaking. Linda walked in with two bottles of wine in her hands. "Robert, how can you discard me after I'm nolonger useful to you?"
Robert chuckled without answering Linda's
question.
"All right. If you can make me drunk today, I willput this matter behind me!" Linda placed a bottle of red wine before Robert."Is that a deaI?"
Robert looked over to Marilyn pleadingly, but the latter ignored him.
In response, Robert could only smile bitterly. He called the waiter to open the wine bottle, knowing he would be wildly drunk when they ended the meal.
It was already 22:00 p. m. when they finished the meal.
Even though he felt dizzy, Robert was overjoyed. At least he got to talk to Marilyn today, and the barrier that was evident between them before seemed to have vanished entirely.
When Robert got home, he immediately fell asleep, and by the time he gained consciousness again, it was on the morning of the following day.
Robert freshened up and told his subordinates about collaborating with Marilyn's company before heading to Bay City for work.
There were only two days left for the bidding,
and they needed to improvise and better some of their planning schemes. Although Zabinski Group had a professional team, Robert thought it would be better if he showed up personally. After all, a more powerful and imposing aura was also needed in the battle between Zabinski Group and the Zabel Group.
