"I really think it's not difficult," Robert insisted. He sat in front of the computer and tapped his fingers on the keyboard.
Robert typed in line after line of code quickly.
Marilyn looked at the scene in surprise. She never knew Robert studied this.
Fred shook his head helplessly. He thought, "I tried to make it less embarrassing for Mr. Zabinski, but he just wanted to brag. He's going to regret this!" The rest of the employees looked at each other and saw a trace of sarcasm in their eyes. They never liked such arrogant scions, so they just watched this happen.
No one spoke, all waiting for Robert to fail.
Due to the screen sharing, Gavin could see Robert's operations.
As Robert was typing in the code, Gavin taunted." That's it? Do you have any idea what you' re writing? How are you going to handle the next data if you write it like that? Are you going to write such simple codes? I don't think you can do this within four hours, or four weeks!" Robert just ignored Gavin and went on with his work.
Gavin continued, " Oh, so you' re going to do that. What about the next? It's still a low- end algorithm." Robert didn't speak but his fingers tapped the keyboard faster and faster.
Gavin kept talking.
He chuckled. " Oh, are you planning to speculate? It won't work. Are you gonna give up on those few numbers? This will affect the final result.
" Huh? That's good.
" This is quite impressive. You may be able to work out the result in three days." As Robert operated, Gavin's attitude gradually changed.
When Robert typed another line of code, Gavin became shocked.
He exclaimed, " No way! This algorithm! How is that possible?" Although the people present didn't understand Robert's codes, they could sense the change in Gavin's tone.
They thought Robert was awesome!
As Robert continued his work, Gavin stopped talking and breathed heavily.
Robert's fingers tapped the keyboard faster and faster as if he was just repeating something he'd done a thousand times before.
The sound of tapping on the keyboard was as intoxicating as if it had magic powers.
Those young employees gradually changed their attitude toward Robert.
Marilyn stood aside. She looked at Robert's serious face and was fascinated.
As Robert entered the last string of codes, the computer automatically ran again.
Robert waved his hands with relief and said nonchalantly, "I haven't done this for a long time. It makes my fingers sore." Fred checked the time and realized that Robert had only spent forty minutes.
" Mr. Zabinski... Is this done?" Fred asked, staring at the computer screen incredulously.
Robert nodded and answered, " Yep. The formula has been programmed in advance. The data will be automatically captured. After more than three hours, the result will probably come out."
