Chapter 161 Silverstone Circuit
The majority of the race drivers and spectators had gathered around the grandstands at the Silverstone Circuit.
When Norah and Alice arrived, the grandstands were filled to capacity.
The fact that it was two in the moming was not enough to deter the spectators from coming to watch the race.
Excitement and pride radiated from the race drivers as they prepared to race at the Silverstone Circuit. Meanwhile, spectators eagerly chattered inside their designated area, debating which race driver would come out on top in this thrilling competition.
"I have a feeling it's going to be Chasen in the first place. He's been dominating the
Silverstone Circuit for the past two years, and no matter what race it is, he always delivers an
impeccable performance!" one spectator remarked.
"I think Humphrey is pretty good. I've saved a lot of videos of him and Chasen battling it out on the race track!" another spectator replied with a wide grin.
"They are like a team, always appearing together. Look, here comes Chasen!"
The waiting audience cheered loudly as soon as Chasen and Humphrey appeared.
With a bright smile, Alice cheerfully caught Norah up on the racing scene. "It's been a while since you've been to Otland. The top three at the Silverstone Circuit are basically fixed. Chasen Patterson is always in the first place. The second and third places are always occupied by Humphrey Brewer and Lucia Nguyen. Lucia is the most talented female racer at Lochdeer!"
Alice lifted her hand, gesturing toward the sleek crimson sports car that had just arrived at the circuit. The driver was a striking blonde man, with a brown-haired man in the passenger seat next to him. "Wow, Chasen actually came with Humphrey. Are they really close in private?"
Norah raised an eyebrow and said, "They are rivals on the track, but they can be friends off the track."
Alice shook her head. "You haven't seen how they compete on the racetrack yet. You'll see it later. Back then when you were dominating the Silverstone Circuit, none of them had any reputation. It was only after you left that those newcomers had a chance to shine. I'm sure they can't compare to you."
"Whether they're good or not will be determined on the racetrack." Norah's heart was pounding with excitement. The last time she raced was against Nocturne at the Krusa Mountain Racing. Just thinking of it pumped a shot of adrenaline through her veins.
"This is my newly upgraded racing car. You don't have to worry about any performance issues. It's perfect." Alice gave Norah a friendly pat on the shoulder. "I'm going to place a bet on you with 100 chips to celebrate your retum as Selene! It's really exciting!"
Alice left happily. Her joy was evident even from her back.
The crimson sports car swiftly swept into the enclosure and disappeared into the distance.
The race at the Silverstone Circuit was an official race and Norah saw on one of the boards that the host of this race was the Campbell family. The Campbell family was a hereditary aristocracy in Otland who made their fortune from tourism, real estate, mineral resources and so on. They were indeed loaded.
Alice returned in a matter of minutes. "I managed to sign up for you just before the deadline. I had driven the car over to inspection. It will be ready soon."
"Great," Norah replied lightly.
Alice scanned the grandstands reflexively. She gasped suddenly and exclaimed, "The Campbell family are here. They are the organizers of tonight's race."
"Why is the race scheduled for three in the morning?"
Alice shrugged. "I'm not sure either. The race preparations commenced two weeks ago, and typically, regular drivers aren't permitted to take part. Nevertheless, when the person in charge heard that Selene is going to participate in the race, he agreed to add your name to the list."
As Alice and Norah chatted, a multimillion-dollar luxury car glided past them. The two men in the luxury car were immediately ensnared by Alice and Norah. They found the beaming Alice and the chuckling Norah to be remarkably charming.
"Norah, can I sit in the passenger seat with you when you race later? it's been a while since I've raced, and I kind of miss that feeling." Alice cast a pleading look at Norah.
"No problem."
Norah and Alice stood at the track for over twenty minutes, waiting for the race to start. When it was finally time for the race to start, Nora turned down the tenth person who tried to strike up a conversation with her and got into the sports car with Alice.
Alice's excitement surged as she gripped the fastened seatbelt with both hands. "Oh my! Just
being in here already has me thrilled. Imagine how exhilarating it'll be when the car starts up!"
Right then, a black sports car approached the starting line. The make and model were quite
understated, and many people criticized it as soon as it arrived.
Norah noticed that despite the unremarkable make and model, this black sports car boasted
top-notch materials, the majority of which were only available on the black market.
Those who didn't know better merely criticized the look, oblivious to the finer details. Little did
they know, certain components of that black sports car were even more expensive than some
people's cars!
Alice exclaimed, "Isn't that Chasen? When did he change his car? He always drove a red Ferrari as far as I remember. Why did he change his car only after a few games? The make and model of this car are not good. He won't be fast today. Norah, you will surely take the first position."
Alice's voice reached Chasen's ears as he waited for the signal to start the race. Curious, he tumed in the direction of the voice and found two exceptionally striking women. Even though Norah and Alice wore helmets, it did little to hide their charm. He had never seen such beautiful women before!
Chasen's excitement surged through the roof when he realized Norah was a racer. His laidback attitude faded in an instant and he became quite energetic. He was pretty certain that he would be able to get one or both of them to go on a date with him if he won the race.
Chasen stared at Norah sitting in the driver's seat, his eyes smoldering with desire.
Nora felt Chasen's intense gaze and looked over. Chasen was behind the wheel of that black
sports car which had just arrived at the starting line.
Humphrey was sitting in the driver's seat of the crimson sports car Chasen had driven over earlier. Just like Chasen, he appeared determined to win the race.
"I never expected Chasen and Humphrey to be so close in private. They even lend each other their race car! Alice inspected the race car Chasen was driving with disapproval. "On the racetrack, the race car is the driver's life. Why would Chasen leave his beloved car behind and drive a junky one instead?"
Norah smiled and gently corrected her friend's misguided impression. "Chasen is not driving a junký car. The value of his car may be higher than your brand-new car."
Alice's eyes went wide with shock. "Really?"
Alice had spent twenty million dollars on the McLaren luxury car. She felt proud and superior every time she drove it. She was not immune to the arrogance and sense of superiority that plagued the rich.
Chasen cast an appreciative glance at Norah. "You have a keen eye, beauty. Ninety-eight percent of people don't recognize the value of my car. Can we get to know each other? I'm Chasen Patterson."
With a smirk, he added, "I've been the number one racer on the Silverstone Circuit's leaderboard
for the past two years."
"Okay." Nora lifted her gaze, grinned and added, "If you can beat me on the racetrack, I'll be happy to get to know you.”
