Chapter 604 Marlín Boyd
"You have another brother named Marlin Boyd, right?" Norah said as she made herself comfortable, bringing cakes and drinks to a table.
Yolande followed suit, sitting beside her. "Do you know Marlin?" she asked, curiosity piqued. "It's well-known he keeps women at arm's length. It's odd. I've never heard of him having a close female friend."
Was Norah Marlin's ex-girlfriend? Yolande wondered. Maybe he was still hung up on her, which was why he was so distant. But Norah already had a boyfriend!
Her face suddenly turned dark. "Were you two together before?" she asked, her voice trembling with apprehension.
Norah noticed Yolande's tendency to speculate wildly.
Taking a sip of her wine, she interrupted Yolande's musings.
"No. We weren't," Norah clarified
"Okay, that's a relief. Are you a friend of Marlin then? Why haven't I seen you before?"
Yolande pressed, scrutinizing Norah. "You are so beautiful. I would have remembered you if I'd seen you
Norah, eager to change the subject, asked, "Will he show up tonight?"
"Of course, he will," Yolande replied, her eyes wide with certainty. "He has some business to attend to, so he'll be a bit late."
Just as she finished speaking, a commotion erupted at the door, filling the hall with screams and noise.
Yolande was accustomed to the commotion. "It must be Mariin. Do you want me to call him over?"
"No, we'll see each other later, Norah replied, her curiosity piqued about how he had changed over the years.
The noise grew louder, and Norah glanced up to see Marlin at the center of the crowd.
He wore a sleek black suit, his hair perfectly styled, giving him a cold, unapproachable aura.
Standing tall, his presence was commanding, especially with his long legs and sharply defined features.
Marlin's left hand was slightly bent as if shielding someone. "Don't get any closer," he commanded coldly to the surrounding crowd, but they continued to flock to him like moths to a flame, causing him to frown with impatience.
"It's strange, Yolande remarked. "Why do I feel like Marlin has someone with him?"
For Yolande, today's turn of events was quite unusual.
As Marlin drew closer, they saw a petite woman in a pink skirt by his side.
With delicate makeup and moist eyes, she clung timidly to Marlin, creating a striking contrast between his aloofness and her fragility. Together, they made an unexpectedly perfect pair.
"Damn it! Marlin has a girlfriend too?" Yolande exclaimed in disbelief.
She watched in a daze as Marlin escorted the woman into the hall. Coming to her senses, she downed a glass of champagne, the strong taste making her shudder.
Hans had revealed his girlfriend not long ago. Was Marlin going public with his girlfriend today?
"It's been only half a month since I last saw Marlin. He is too fast!"
Norah, rubbing the glass with her index finger, observed Marlin's back coldly. He hadn't spared her a single glance, focusing entirely on the woman beside him.
"Miss Boyd, why are you following me?" Norah asked, shifting her gaze to the visibly angry Yolande
"It's none of your business! I can stay wherever I want. Are you trying to drive me away?"
"Of course not. I can walk away myself."
Norah picked up her plate and wine glass, tumed on her heel, and left, ignoring Yolande's seething anger.
