Chapter 657 Stalkers
Following work, Norah glanced at her phone and discovered numerous missed calls from Joanna.
She signaled for a taxi and swiftly entered.
"Hello, Joanna, why did you call multiple times?"
At the time of Joanna's attempts to reach her, Norah was entrenched in the operating room, rendering her unable to respond.
"Norah, did you hear about Susanna? She attempted to take her own life." Norah's hand, securing her seat belt, froze in place. "What? How could that
happen?" Outside the ICU, Joanna gazed solemnly at the patient within, speaking to Norah in a somber tone.
"Thankfully, they intervened in time. Susanna is currently under observation in the ICU."
Norah's voice faltered. "How could this have occurred?"
When Joanna had previously mentioned Susanna's adverse reactions, Norah had merely attributed it to adjusting to treatment. Susanna's suicide attempt
caught her completely off guard. "I wasn't aware until I arrived at the hospital today. Sean is also here, waiting for Susanna to wake up."
Now Norah realized that Sean had returned to Glophia.
"Notify me of any developments."
Upon concluding the call, Norah gazed at a certain contact number, immersing herself in contemplation. Despite her hesitation, she refrained from making the
call. Being in her proximity posed a threat, one she preferred to shield Sean from. Currently, his primary concern should mainly focus on Susanna's well-being.
"It's peculiar. Why is a van tailing us?"
The driver queried, casting a puzzled glance at the rearview mirror. "It's been trailing us for twenty minutes, persistently close behind."
Initially, he assumed it was merely coincidental, with the van coincidentally traveling in the same direction. However, as it repeatedly refused to overtake them and continued to tail closely, the driver's suspicions grew.
Norah caught sight of the van mentioned by the driver in the rearview mirror, finding its presence indeed peculiar.
"It's alright. Let's proceed to the hotel."
Glancing at the elegant woman beside him, the driver quipped, "You're quite the beauty. Are you a celebrity? Perhaps the paparazzi are tailing you?"
Norah couldn't suppress a laugh. "No, just disregard it."
In modern times, there was a common assumption that attractive individuals were predominantly affiliated with the entertainment industry. The hotel was just a fifteen-minute drive from the hospital. Norah had gone
for dinner before heading back to the hotel. She only noticed the van
persistently tailing her on the route to the hotel. Norah's gaze fixated on the rearview mirror, where the persistent presence of the van remained evident.
There was no way that this group of people could nave been sent by Hank Professional killers would operate unnoticed in public settings.
They would operate like phantoms in the darkness, swiftly extinguishing lives without a trace.
Norah wondered who wanted her dead. It appeared she hadn't incurred anyone's ire since her arrival in Silverdale.
Could this be the retaliation of those men she had encountered outside the Cloud Club? outside the Cloud Club?
Gerry placed the documents on the desk, saying, "Mr. Boyd, these individuals attempted to assault Miss Wilson outside Cloud Club. And Barney Larson was the leader of the group."
Marlin appeared visibly fatigued.
Three days had elapsed since his last meeting with Norah. Awakening from a drunken stupor, Dolores had informed him that Norah had enticed him and made advances even in the presence of Lola.
Marlin faintly remembered a beautiful woman lying beneath him, gazing at him tranquility, and then forcibly moving him aside.
That was the unvarnished truth,
Despite the passing days, he could still vividly recall the woman's visage, his heart pounding uncontrollably.
